There are new revisions to some nutrition risk factors that you will want to familiarize yourself with. For an easy overview read about each one. In summary, revisions were made to; NRFs 304 History of Preeclampsia (low risk), 338 Pregnant Woman Currently Breastfeeding (low risk) and 345 Hypertension and Prehypertension (high risk) although your assignment of these to participants will not change. There were two NRFs with more significant changes; 382 Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASDs) and 131 Low Maternal Weight Gain.
382-Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASDs) This is not a new NRF but rather a name change for NRF 382 Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Before the revision, 382 was only risked to infants and children but now it can also be risked to adults. The assignment of NRF 382 is done through the nutrition interview or risk panel for infants and children. However, for pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding women you will need to manually assign this risk by going to the Risk Panel in Compass where you will find 382 under “Clinical/Health/Medical Risks”.
131-Low Maternal Weight Gain This has been simplified and staff will NO longer need to calculate the rate of gain during a women’s pregnancy. Instead, a pregnant woman would be assigned 131 simply if any pregnancy weight plots beneath the bottom line of the weight-gain range. Please note: 131 is not assigned by Compass, but by staff going to the Risk Panel.
