September 2020
THE GOOSE AND THE GOLDEN EGG

There was once a Countryman who possessed the most wonderful Goose you can imagine, for every day when he visited the nest, the Goose had laid a beautiful, glittering, golden egg.

The Countryman took the eggs to market and soon began to get rich. But it was not long before he grew impatient with the Goose because she gave him only a single golden egg a day. He was not getting rich fast enough.

Then one day, after he had finished counting his money, the idea came to him that he could get all the golden eggs at once by killing the Goose and cutting it open. But when the deed was done, not a single golden egg did he find, and his precious Goose was dead.

GREED OFTEN OVERREACHES ITSELF
NEVERENDING SUMMER BREAK
Kids have been home from school for 6... S I X full months.  If you have little ones underfoot, you can appreciate what a long time that is!  While the calendar turned to September, it is still summer hot here in New England. School is finally about to begin and many of our kids are going back for in person instruction at least a couple of days a week. There's a lot of uncertainty and excitement and we remain hopeful about getting back to a routine.  Let's all do what we can to help ensure we keep COVID away and keep our kids and teachers safe and in the classroom for as long as possible.  Be informed about new rules, use caution, be kind!

Another piece of good news about September is the bountiful number of amazing books being published. There are new novels from Fredrik Backman, Marilynne Robinson, Ken Follett and Jodi Picoult on the horizon as well as dozens more for readers of every taste! You can pre-order all of these books from us online and if there is a book you don't see, we are happy to order it for you.
