Blacks in Technology - Indianapolis

Blacks in Technology Indianapolis is an official, chartered chapter of the dynamic, growing, vibrant Blacks in Technology International non-profit corporation
(http://bitintl.org/).

We educate people and seek to increase the representation of Black people in technology. It’s proven, enterprises that embrace diversity yield the most innovative solutions. We’re talking about the whole gamut from developers, scientists, digital media specialists, engineers, web masters, technicians, QA folks, social media strategists, cyber-security analysts, online marketing experts, UI/UX artists, recruiters, bloggers, operations staff, project managers – and many, many more technology professionals, students and educators.

We include all races and ethnicities. Non-technologist supporters are welcome in our community. The doors are wide open for folks who are simply just passionate about all things technical.

Holiday Social 2020 - This Time, it's Virtual

Let's keep talking about this year's Holiday Social!

First up, Hackies nominations are now open. Do you or someone you know want to recognize individuals in the community who are great promoters of inclusion, empowerment and diversity? Here's the link to nominate someone. Feel free to share with your friends, family, co-workers, mortal enemies, and your pets if you want to but they probably won't be able to nominate anyone.

We repeat: This year's Holiday Social will be a virtual event. 100% guaranteed. No waffling!

We realize many of us are feeling "Zoom fatigue", but we don't feel it's possible to safely and responsibly have an in-person Holiday Social this year, and we still want to continue our tradition of bringing the Indiana tech community together around the holidays.

More details will be forthcoming, and we're already kicking around ideas for games, social activities, and other ideas to make this year's Holiday Social the Best Ever Virtual Holiday Social Of All Time.

We'll have some favorites from previous Holiday Socials, including the Hackies awards to recognize folks doing good work in the Indiana tech community, but our intention isn't simply to recreate the Holiday Social in a virtual realm. Nor is it to force anyone to join Yet Another Zoom Call! We know it's not ideal, and we would really prefer to see everyone in person, but we're planning to do something fun this year, in the safest way we can.

If you'd like to get involved, or have an idea for something we can do to put on an incredible virtual event, please reply to this email, contact a board member in Slack, or reach out on Twitter.

More details as soon as we have them, we promise!
