Sustainability Centre Walking Tour!

There’s been lots happening at B4C HQ this year! A big new shed is nearing completion, a new sustainable garden (thanks to sponsorship from Urban Utilities) is coming to life, furry and feathered friends are enjoying our nest boxes and much more.

But with COVID-19, our monthly open days have been put on hold and many of you haven’t seen what’s been going on.

So we’re inviting B4C members and other locals to come on a Sustainability Centre (Carindale) walking tour. It will be approximately 45 minutes long and places are strictly limited.

You'll see our native plant nursery, outdoor classroom, frog pond and more. Check out the ever-changing landscape with your guide Alex Vanek. Bring your reusable water bottle and wear sun-smart clothing including a hat and closed-in shoes.

Bookings essential (via eventbrite links below)

Thursday 8th October, 8.30am.  Book here >>

More sessions being scheduled soon!

As part of Brisbane's Big Butterfly Count, B4C will be undertaking a transect count in Minnippi on Thursday 12th November (and two additional dates after that). Please contact us (you can just reply to this email) if you're interested in being involved.
We also encourage bushcare groups, households and Land for Wildlife properties, schools and others to do counts at their sites. There are counts with easy survey sheets as well as transects - something for everyone.
Brisbane Biodiversity Seminar
Tuesday 13th October, 6.30pm
Presented by Brisbane City Council, delivered ONLINE

Citizen Science in Brisbane - Join other catchment carers to hear about two local projects you can get involved in:

Brisbane's Big Butterfly Count - Jutta Godwin of Cubberla-Witton Catchment Network will talk on behalf of the Brisbane Catchment Network about this Brisbane-wide project. Butterflies are a much loved insect that captivate experts and the average nature lover alike, and they are excellent indicators of ecosystem health.

Tracking roadkill - Alex Vanek of Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee will talk about the app that tracks wildlife road deaths in order to identify hot-spots and inform solutions for creating safe wildlife movement through our city.

Free but bookings essential. Register here.
