Good morning,
Midterm Reports:
Today your son/daughter should be getting their Midterm Report via email. We are officially half-way done Block 1 courses. Please check to see if you have this report. If not, please let myself or the teacher know. These are very important with our timelines to make sure the students are on track for Block 1. At 11 days left, we need to make sure students are being successful.
Lunch:
As you are aware, lunch breaks are 80 minutes this year and each classroom is open during lunch. This is a great time to get support from a teacher, clarification on tasks, complete work in a quiet environment, as well as use various accommodations to support your son/daughters learning. Encourage your son/daughter to connect with their teacher so they can meet. As we are half-way done their course, this is an important time to use for students.
Absences:
It is really important to encourage students when they are away to participate in their course work. 1 day actually equates to 4 instructional periods. Our marking system will not be similar to last year and students will be expected to complete work when they are away. They should check their online learning platform during their absence.
IEPs:
IEPs have been updated and we will be sending them to you to review and add your insight. I am almost complete in meeting with the Grade 9s and then I will start meeting with the other students. Let me know if your son or daughter needs a refresher with their accommodations or learning profile. Understanding their IEP is very important.
