General News

What wonderful news about Alert Levels!
We're thrilled to be told that we're effectively back to normal operationally at the Club - and we can't wait to see a full house again!

We posted this update on Facebook on Monday, but for those of you who don't use it here you are:

What does this mean for the Club when you visit?

We no longer have the 100 guest limit so come on up!!
We no longer require you to sign in - we still have our QR code displayed so you may still want to scan that for your own records.
No more table service - you can wander around at will and head up to the bar to get your own drinks.
Restrictions on number of members in the Club van have been removed.
We can serve the buffet in our restaurant again.
And, we’re thrilled to advise that door draws, raffles and membership draws are back on from this Thursday!!

We will still have sanitiser around, and also would like to remind you to please stay at home if you’re not feeling well.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to you all for supporting us through this - we don’t know what will happen in the future but we do know that we couldn’t do it without you

Membership Cards - another thanks to those members who've picked their cards up. PLEASE do so asap if you plan on being here during one of our Membership Draw nights.
If you've not yet paid, please do so as soon as you're able - in person at the bar or using internet banking - we're not fussy how you do it!

Questions? Drop me a line at office@ctclubrotorua.co.nz attention Sarah.

Daylight Saving - just another reminder that clocks go forward on Sunday.
Here's a link to an extremely (I think so anyway) funny clip about Daylight Saving - I posted it last year, it's an oldie but a goodie.

Housekeeping / Working Bee

You know, I bet you've been thinking lately... 'if only there were a way I could do something for the Club, give a little of my time to maybe tidy things up a little....'
Well have we got a deal for you!!
We're looking for a few lovely people to help clear the fenceline up a little - we'd also love it if you could bring a trailer and some garden tools - spades and rakes etc.

Time and date: Saturday 17th October at 8:00am. Please let Gordon or Kathleen know if you're able to help.

Motorsports Car Sales Courtesy Van

Our van operates Thursday to Sunday from 3:00pm.
We expect we'll be extra busy on our Membership Draw nights this week - Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, so  please give us plenty of notice if you can that you'd like a pick up on these days - give us a call on 3478301 during opening hours, go through to the bar and book your pick up time.
To get home again, we make regular announcements throughout the night when the van is leaving shortly, so you just need to get yourself out into the foyer and hop on.

For new members who don't know about this - this is a free service but we would appreciate it if you could drop a donation in the box on the bar. Thank you!

Looking for fun? Join our new Daytime Club.

Following up from the article about a daytime club over the last couple of weeks, we held our inaugural lunch yesterday to toss ideas around. The lunch was awesome with 38 people attending and yummy food provided by Kathleen and the team.

Great ideas gleaned from the survey and the next gathering will be Tuesday 6 October at 12 pm at the Club and will be a luncheon, guest speaker and a Quiz.  Please also bring along a couple of books to donate to the Club library to get it started.

Almost everyone was also keen on day trips away from the Club so I will get some prices for that to happen on
Tuesday 20 October and the most popular choice will go ahead.

If you think up a great name for us there will be a $20 bar tab in it for you.

The next 8 Ball Fun NIght is Tuesday 29th September - come along for a fun night - everyone is welcome.

Ohope Trip
Who wouldn't like a fun day out?

8 Ball players have been invited to the Ohope Club for a fun day of 8 Ball on Sunday 11th October (next month).
Cost of $10.00 per person, and that goes towards transport and lunch.
We'd all meet here at the Club at 9:00am Sunday 11th October for transport over to Ohope, and arrive back in Rotorua around 4:30pm.
If you're interested, please put your name on the poster on the Billiard Room notice board. Any questions please ask John.

Golf News

Our September round was played at Omanu and Shaun Gabolinscy was the best golfer on the day. Our next round is on 18th October at Lake View, which is our annual Club Champs.

Lorraine sent in a few pics taken at the golf - what a stunner of a day!
She wrote - it was a spectacular day with the glorious sunshine (definitely a shorts day). If the golf didn't entertain us then the surroundings did.  Exciting aerodynamic planes, trains, and eels in the stream (lucky I spied those before I took my golf shoes off to retrieve my ball). Awesome day out. Thanks guys.

Thanks Lorraine for that! Anyone else feel like taking up golf after seeing these pics?

Fishing News

The CT Fishing Nationals are still on for the weekend beginning Friday  9th October 2020. Fishing will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
Any questions please ask Phil Canning.

Big news of the week is that our Carvery is back! Oh the joy!

Weekly Membership Draws

Membership draws resume this week!

Please remember - if your membership number is drawn you must be physically present in the Club AND have your current year's membership card on you to be eligible to win.

Thursday is a MUST GO draw - we've had a number of new members join recently, so here's an explanation of what this means.
When a draw has been running for a certain number of weeks, we reach a time when it must be struck. This means we'll do the draw as usual at 7:00pm (or, if on a Thursday it will be directly after the President's speech at 7:00pm). If that first draw does not result in a winner, then we'll keep drawing numbers at regular announced intervals throughout the evening until a winner is found.
