Visit IdahoVotes.gov and click on “New/Update Voter Registration” (red box) and put in your information, including your name, your birthday and a few questions to help verify you’re eligible to vote and getting the right ballot.
CHECK ON YOUR VOTING STATUS ANYTIME
- Click the blue “Check Your Voter Record” box. That’s where you can also look up the address you’re registered under, your voting district and your polling place.
- If you’ve moved recently, you’ll need to update your address.
DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS FRIDAY, OCTOBER. 9
But you can also register to vote in person at your polling place on Election Day.
To register, you must have:
- A photo identification (state issued ID, tribal card, U.S. passport or current student ID)
- A state ID number or the last four digits of your Social Security number
- Proof of residency (vehicle registration, current utility bill, bank statement, etc.)
ABSENTEE VOTING OR VOTING BY MAIL IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THIS YEAR
Visit IdahoVotes.gov and click on “Request an Absentee Ballot” (green box).
- Include first name, last name, birthday, driver’s license number (the one at the top right of your license) and the last four digits of your Social Security number.
- Select where you want your ballot mailed.
- Then confirm who you are and click submit.
OCTOBER 19 is the date the US Postal Service recommends you request your absentee ballot (15 days prior to election day).
Last day to request an absentee ballot is by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, but don't wait that long!
MAIL IN YOUR BALLOT EARLY - DON'T WAIT
Once you get your ballot,
- complete it and put it into the secrecy sleeve that came with it.
- Put that sleeve into the outer envelope.
- Sign the envelope with your normal signature.
- INCLUDE YOUR PHONE NUMBER - In Ada County, the clerk will call folks if there is a problem with their ballot.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS WILL BEGIN MAILING ON OCTOBER 5
If you request an absentee ballot after the first batch goes out, expect about 7-10 days until you get your ballot.
A NOTE ABOUT THE POLLS
Due to Covid19 and the possible lack of poll workers, there may be fewer polling locations this year. That's why I'm voting ABSENTEE this year. The Clerks have the authority to condense polls so your district may have fewer polling places.
ADA COUNTY EARLY VOTING
In Ada County, ahead of each election, we have several early voting locations. Voters may choose to cast their ballot at any of the available locations, regardless of where they live in the county. Early voting locations typically open 15 to 22-days prior to the election and close four-days before the election. Click on this link to identify early voting locations in Ada County.
If you have any questions, call your county clerk.
