UCF Project Studies Smart Tech to Improve Risk Communication in Central Florida
UCF researchers are leading an interdisciplinary project to use artificial intelligence and smart technologies to help Central Florida communities bounce back from disasters quickly. The $1.2 million project also involves developing a regional data-sharing platform to help community leaders and emergency personnel better respond to emergencies.

Doug Goodman Joins SPA as Next School Director
Center
Partnering with United Abolitionists Against Trafficking
Doug Goodman, Ph.D. began his term as director for the UCF School of Public Administration in the College of Community Innovation and Education on August 1st. Previously, he was professor of public and nonprofit management at The University of Texas at Dallas. 
CPNM and the Orlando nonprofit, United Abolitionists, are collaborating to pursue research, develop policy-related solutions, and educate and train students and community leaders on the problem of human trafficking.

Public administration graduate assists aviation authority to earn ‘gold seal’ in emergency preparedness and crisis management. Keila Walker-Denis ’07 serves as assistant director of airport operations in emergency management for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

From Intern to Emergency Team Leader for Seminole County
Jaha Dukureh '18MNM was recently announced as the newest ambassador for L'Oréal Paris. Dukureh is a renowned activist, Nobel Peace Prize nominee, and one of Time Magazine's 2017 Top 100 Most Influential People.
Emergency management student Andres Acosta began his journey with Seminole County Office of Emergency Management as an intern. Now, he leads a team of ten supporting the county's coronavirus response.

How Amendment 2 Could Affect Florida's Economy
Amendment 2 is on the ballot for Florida's November election. If passed, the amendment can increase the state's minimum wage incrementally over a period of five years. Alexis Davis, doctoral student in the School of Public Administration and policy analyst at the Florida Policy Institute, shares how Amendment 2 and the subsequent wage increase can impact the Florida economy.
