On Thursday 9/24 from 12:00am - 11:59pm, we encourage you to virtually join us for GiveMore24!
This is a 24-hour, online fundraiser that rallies our community to raise money for more than 150 local nonprofits. It’s a day when everyone who cares about SW Washington can take action by giving what they can, wherever they are, at the same time.
A message from our Executive Director:
It is that time of year again where all of SW Washington comes together to give together.
I know we have a lot going on with the world and especially in our local area. I am asking that you consider donating (every amount helps) to Watershed Alliance. We are working hard with the help of hundreds of volunteers every year at planting native plants along our local creeks, in partnership with Columbia Land Trust and Portland Audubon we are helping homeowners create healthy backyard habitats in their own yards, we give out $22,500 a year for environmentally focused community micro-grants, we are doing larger restoration projects along the Washougal, Little Washougal, Gee Creek and near Day Break park.
We need community financial support to make all this work happen. Please donate to help us continue to make our community healthier for the fish, critters, climate and us!
The climate depends on us and we need to do this for our health now and for future generations.

National Latinx Heritage Month
|
|
 Latinx communities are integral to the environmental movement. Conservation Cultura “is an affirmation of how conservation is woven in our cultural practices and rooted in our history and traditions” (@latinooutdoors).
Despite their histories, contributions and accomplishments to global environmental advocacy, Latinx communities have largely been pushed out of the environmental movement in the U.S.
Diandra Marizet, a founding member of Intersectional Environmentalist, reminds us that Spanish speaking countries are the result of colonization from Spain.
She also reminds us that if “we are going to honor cultures lumped under the Hispanic umbrella we should equally recognize and celebrate them all – Colombia, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Perú, Venezuela, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Cuba, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Paraguay, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Uruguay, Puerto Rico, Equatorial Guinea”.
“While mainstream eco-movements in the U.S. are heavily marketed to white communities, Latinx peoples don’t stray far from their global counterparts regarding concerns surrounding climate change. In fact, they consistently outperform total U.S. polling bodies around environmental concerns because they are among the front line communities that are the first to have their air and water sources compromised. It’s time we as a community harness the environmental value in our ancestry. To understand the relationship the Latinx community has with our planet, it’s important to explore the history of Latinx environmentalism, social justice concerns, and activists creating change. Amplify BIPOC Environmentalists

Wintler Beach Clean Up
When: Thursday, September 24th, 8:00am - 10:00am
Where: 6400 Beach Dr. Vancouver, WA
Join the City of Vancouver for a physically distanced volunteer event to help clean up the well loved Wintler Community Beach.
Volunteers must RSVP in advance. Plan to bring your own mask and water bottle. Gloves, litter bags and hand sanitizer will be provided. Limited capacity due to Covid-19 protocols.
National Public Lands Day
When: Saturday, September 26th 8:00am - 11: 00am
Where: Various Sites
Celebrate National Public Lands Day with Clark County Parks, in partnership with the Parks Foundation of Clark County and the Whipple Creek Restoration Committee.
Your help is needed clear out litter and invasive blackberry vines from Frenchman's/Blurock, Salmon Creek/Klineline, or Captain William Clark Park. Volunteers are also needed to help maintain trails and remove invasive plants at Whipple Creek Park with the Whipple Creek Restoration Committee.
This event is limited to 20 volunteers per site. Please bring your own gloves and face covering to this event. Click here for more information and to register
