Dear community,

In our first Thursday class, there was strong group awareness and willingness to explore our new circumstances of practice. It was a best-case scenario on the dance floor, thanks to those who participated. This meant that my crew and I had a clear baseline to work from when we assessed what parts of our set-up worked well, and what parts need tweaking for the well-being of the group in these strange, hard times.

My eye is on the prize of going with the flow of the most important needs, creating clarity and dependability, letting go of what might have seemed like a good idea but doesn't serve, allowing inspiration to free us into more experimentation, and taking a step back for perspective on the big picture. After reflecting  on check-in and in-class conditions, including the phenomenon of a queue to drop in, I've decided to change course.

Starting Thursday Sept. 24, class attendance will be by registration only: pre-purchased tickets.
If you have a current 5-class pass with me, it is valid until you empty it.  Be sure to email me, please, to register for your spot for each class you seek to attend.  Crew will have your pass on record, as in the past.

Also starting this Thursday the 24th, I'm introducing a tiered ticket structure to create more responsive access for you, and greater sustainability for me. For transparency's sake, I will note that these classes are a labour of love for me at this time, not one of profit:

1. Pay It Forward Ticket: attend class by donation of $25 or more. For those who are able to extend this support, it will allow me to subsidize other community members whose finances do not allow full-price attendance.

2. Securely Employed Ticket: attend class by donation of $20

3. Precariously Employed, Fixed/Lower Income & Student Ticket: attend class by donation of $15

4. No-one turned away for lack of funds. An unprecedented number of us are unemployed.
Please
email me if you're in financial need and we will get you set up.

A link to directly purchase tickets through Eventbrite will be available on my website sometime tomorrow.

If you try to register for a class and it's sold out, email me directly with that info, so I can track community members who are not being served, and consider getting another class up and running if demand exists.

At this time in indoor classes, mask usage is optional, and certainly not discouraged. I noticed that most dancers did not choose to wear masks last Thursday, and I noticed that some dancers who initially had masks on took them off later in class. It is important that those who find themselves in the minority do not feel socially pressured to join the majority. My classes welcome you to follow your own situation, needs, instincts. and feelings. I will be modelling mask wearing at some times and masklessness at others because masks and physical distancing have become conflict points in our wider community and I will not condone them creating rifts in our sangha or the group field of any one class. Freedom requires discipline and non-attachment.

Regularly check my website and Facebook group as time passes, for further changes that may be necessary, and for new in-person and on-line offerings, including possible committed-group series, workshops, and offerings that may weave yoga-informed self-care stretching support and breathing meditation as well as 5Rhythms practice. I don't want to overload your inbox with newsletters (bad manners), so I'll ask you to come to my information watering holes instead. Changes and practical info will be front and centre on the website and Facebook group.

Finally, a profound thank you to community members who are choosing to generously support me to continue this work. I am configuring a Patreon page, where soon you will be able to access and contribute towards the ongoing creation of work I release. I will share music for your practice, guided mediations, guided yoga-based stretching and self-care sessions, and writing and images intended to support our personal and community growth and strength.

Please be in touch with any questions. I know this is a lot of information.

Be well,
Chantell
