We’re back on(line)!
We are so proud to be celebrating extraordinary local talent in HOME FOLK, a special Port Fairy Folk Festival virtual event streamed live from the Geelong Arts Centre on Friday 9 October.
HOME FOLK will feature three Port Fairy Folk Festival favourites: Sal Kimber, Fenn Wilson and Van Walker who will each perform a thirty-minute set live from the Geelong Arts Centre, bringing the Festival-vibes to your screens at home.
John Young, President of the Port Fairy Folk Festival Committee said he was looking forward to presenting the festival in a new online format as we press pause on the major event for 2021. ‘’It’s an absolute honour to be collaborating with Geelong Arts Centre. This virtual concert shines a light on regional artists from Victoria. As we work towards putting on our 45th festival in March 2022, we look forward to continue to engage with Folk Festival lovers with lots of different events over the next 12 months,’’ said John.
For 44 years we’ve been entertaining music lovers with our annual seaside event in Port Fairy. The 2021 Festival was put on pause due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, but we will return in 2022 with a wonderful, music-filled event on the long weekend in March 2022.
Port Fairy Folk Festival’s new Program Director Justin Rudge highlighted the importance of remaining connected to our festival family in this year on hiatus.‘’While we are preparing for our big return in 2022, we look forward to bringing events such as this concert, to share our local talent with the virtual world,’’ said Justin.
Geelong Arts Centre CEO Joel McGuiness said: “As long-time admirers of the Port Fairy Folk Festival and their dedication to artists and their fans, this is an incredible opportunity for Geelong Arts Centre to collaborate and support the Festival, its fans and local artists at this time.”

SAL KIMBER
Born and bred in the mountain valleys of Victoria, Kimber’s songwriting is stitched with tales of rivers, wild horses, flood, fire and the strength and vulnerability of the human spirit. Sal comes to the Geelong Arts Centre from Wangaratta in North East Victoria.

FENN WILSON
Awarded the Emerging Artist of the Year at Port Fairy Folk Festival in 2019, local Geelong resident Fenn Wilson is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter whose songs cover themes of heartbreak, love and redemption.

VAN WALKER
Currently based in Geelong, Van Walker is a Tasmanian native whose prolific songwriting productivity has seen him become a festival favourite. With over 500 songs across many genres under his belt, Walker has just released a new album Ghosting, with Jeff Lang and Dave Walker.
