What is the Value of your Health?

BEATNIK: your value-based health care platform

BEATNIK is our solution for outpatient telemonitoring. Daily, nurses and surgeons are able to manage the follow-up of patients at the comfort of their homes. By connecting to IoT devices, BEATNIK collects:
  • clinical parameters (e.g.: blood pressure, heart rate, weight, ...);
  • patient-reported outcomes (PROMs);
  • pictures of surgical wounds.
After integrating the data, our platform generates value-based reports that support clinical decisions making.

The result: each follow-up is different, customized and based on the value added to each patient!

Milestone achieved: we engaged 30 patients!

In the scope of Show me my Heart project, our telemonitoring pilot at the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department of Hospital de Santa Marta, we already engaged 30 patients!

During their first month after surgery, patients were remotely monitored by the clinical team of the hospital service. Following a patient-centered approach, patients were empowered to use digital health technology and strongly engaged in the daily process of outcomes measurement.

Patients' satisfaction is reflected in three words: feeling of safety. Check out some
patients' feedback and the recorded television story on this project!

FrailCare.AI website was launched!

FrailCare.AI is a research project funded by FCT that aims to improve screening for frailty among the Portuguese elderly population. It will leverage Artificial Intelligence models to learn from patients' clinical history and suggest courses of action recommended by clinical experts on healthy ageing. FrailCare.AI's early detection of frailty in senior citizens from their electronic health records is key to unlock precision medicine, leading to better, higher-sensitivity, preventive healthcare.
Partners defined as main goals:
  1. Automatic frailty risk prediction;
  2. Visual tool for elderly health pathways;
  3. Senior Proximity Calls Assistance and Piloting.

We were at the Patient Innovation Bootcamp!

The first week of the accelerator program Patient Innovation Bootcamp, aimed at supporting patients and caregivers to implement and scale-up their own innovations, took place in Nova School of Business and Economics (Lisbon) in September.
Ana Rita Londral, our CEO, was invited to share her expertise on  technology validation for healthcare solutions, from prototyping to application over the validation cycle.
Salomé Azevedo, our Head of Digital Health, was the mentor of two teams of innovators that are developing: HappyrHealth, an app that helps managing childhood migraine, and CF Hero, an app which aims at helping teenagers with cystic fibrosis to manage their disease.

ICHOM Standard Set for Covid-19: the end of the journey

During the last 3 months, we joined the ICHOM Covid-19 Working Group, an international focus group of leading physicians, measurement experts and patient representatives, for the development of a Standard Set for Covid-19.
It was a collaborative work with constructive discussions on the outcomes that matter to worldwide adults with confirmed or highly suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection.
From relevant symptoms to social and mental functioning, the Standard Set will soon be released here!

Tackling Covid-19 symptoms among the elderly

We are collaborating with a group of seven Engineering students from FCT NOVA who are developing a system to monitor Covid-19 symptoms of the elderly.
Under the program BehindCovid19, HomeSafe is specifically designed for the elderly who are unfamiliar with IT tools. The first prototype was already developed and 3D printed. The test phase with end users and clinical experts in Ageing is about to start!

We won Santander/NOVA Collaborative Award

At NOVA Science Day ceremony on the 22nd September, we received Santander/NOVA Collaborative Research Award 2020 with Com@Rehab project! Micaela Monteiro (NOVA FCT) is the principal investigator in this collaboration with NOVA FCSH, VOH.CoLABNOVA NMS (CHRC) and the support of HEI-Lab and Centro de Medicina de Reabilitação Alcoitão,
The project crosses the areas of communication, health literacy, terminology and linguistics with technologies and virtual reality. Its main goal is the rehabilitation of post-Covid19 patients.

We are participating in Com@Rehab project by applying our competencies in health literacy in the Linguistic and Terminological components of the project, thus, improving communication between technology and patients.
