Fall has begun and with it come new opportunities to enjoy the arts and culture of the Monadnock Region! Organizers, leaders, and staff continue to keep health and safety as a top priority, but need you to remember your masks and social distancing! If you're not ready yet, there are plenty of ways to get back into the Monadnock region's art scene virtually. So, enjoy and Discover Monadnock at whatever level you're ready for! 

An Edge on Theatre

While The Edge Ensemble Theatre Company cancelled all live performances for the remainder of 2020, it will still present three online performances this fall. Its first production is Mark Twain's The Diaries of Adam and Eve

The production will be available from September 25 to October 18. Watch it from the Edge's website or on YouTube (search Edge Ensemble Theatre Company). A raffle of a $400 gift card to the Monadnock Food Co-Op will be held on October 18.

Enjoy a Fall Afternoon

Stroll through an Outdoor Gallery Exhibit at Sandglass Theatre September 26 or 27 from 2 - 5 pm! This walkthrough experience will feature the whimsical new paintings, done since the pandemic began, of Sandglass co-Founder Ines Zeller Bass. This event is free to the public. To ensure the health and safety of our community, safety precautions will be observed.

Join The Sustainability Project for its Annual "Music and Art in the Forest" Open House Celebration. This year’s event features a Solar Sisters’ noon-time concert, tours of the center’s trails (some of which are wheelchair accessible) and an exhibition of sculptures by the late Susan O’Hara

Lift Your Voice

Opportunities To Sing 


Weekly


In response to the current challenges posed by Covid 19, The Keene Chorale offers a membership that includes virtual practice opportunities supported with live accompaniment, as well as lectures and conversations, all within the safety and comfort of our singers’ homes.  Rehearsals for the fall just began on Tuesday evenings and will continue through the end of 2020 and pick up again in January 2021. Learn more of what the group will be singing! If you miss singing, join today!   
Monadnock Chorus offers a different twist on group singing. For the time being it is taking its weekly Sunday rehearsals outdoors in Peterborough. Learn more of Monadnock Chorus' singing plans for the coming months and about possible concerts!

Peterborough Folk Music Society announces a live-streamed concert with Catie Curtis. She continues to be a national favorite singer-songwriter with a list of accomplishments spanning 14 albums, with songs featured on TV shows and movies. Her songs remind you of a conversation with a friend. She seeks the everyday details that let you see your own life in her songs.

Exhibits Galore

The Jaffrey Civic Center currently offers three exhibits through October 10. The largest is a show of work by the local group, Earth Song Artists. All of the presented works have been painted in the past year.  While at the Civic Center be sure to check out the first floor exhibits as well!

Join in virtually or in-person for Downtown Brattleboro's Gallery Walk Stroll n' Stream on first Fridays from October 2 through June 2021!  This year's Gallery Walk will feature a live-stream portion at 5:30pm hosted by local personalities that will feature current exhibitions at galleries downtown, along with local musical guests, shops and restaurants! Many venues and restaurants will be open from 4-8pm for socially-distanced art viewing and gathering on these Fridays.

While Monadnock Art's Open Studios Tour is cancelled this year, you can still check out works by its artist members! The indoor Annual Members Exhibit at Bass Hall at the Monadnock Center in Downtown Peterborough will commence on October 10. The spacious setting allows for social distancing while you enjoy the art and maybe even find that signature piece you've been looking for!

To help kick things off on opening day, an additional outdoor art fair will feature 20 + artists exhibiting and selling their work in tents on the grounds. Make a day of it and see both! Free and family friendly - masks and social distancing protocols will be in place for the comfort and safety of all.

Wildlife Experienced New Ways

Join with The Harris Center at 5:30pm on September 30, for a special conversation with local artist Rosemary Conroy, whose vibrant and colorful paintings celebrate the mystery, beauty, and wonder of wild creatures found near and far. Hear how Rosemary went from Wall Street to the wilds of New Hampshire on her way to becoming the artist she is now, and enjoy stories from her travels to meet the creatures she paints. With Franz Schubert’s music and Willhelm Muller's poetry as your guide, heighten your senses, open your heart, and walk through the woods in a new way! The Harris Center and Electric Earth Concerts present The Singing Stream, curated by Jazimina McNeil and Marji Gere, a musical journey through a Peterborough trail. October 9, 10 & 11 at 12 noon and 3 pm. Exact location information will be provided upon registration. 
 

Make a Basket

Workshop 


September 26, 10am - 1pm

Learn the art of Basketry with this Quick and Cute Basket class! In this one day basket workshop at Mill Hollow Works, you WILL finish this useful basket. This introduction to the art of basketry will teach you several standard weaving techniques. You will find useful ways to use this handy little basket in any room in your home, so sign up!
