In the midst of COVID-19, telecommuting led to the rapid launch of an online platform for managing archival records. The database now includes more than 18,000 records describing various collections, as well as items within those collections, dramatically increasing the ability of researchers to explore and discover information about archival materials.

The project to document the work of OU's Gibbs College of Architecture faculty and students who worked under the direction of Bruce Goff continues, with new acquisitions, recognition in the form of a National Endowment for the Arts grant, and a featured cover photo on College & Research Libraries News, the preeminent publication for the academic and research library community.

The fall 2019 issue of Sooner Horizon has been recognized by the American Library Association's PR Xchange Committee as among the best examples of digital publications designed to promote collections, services and resources.

This year, to accommodate virtual learning, the Western History Collections provided digital photographs, documents and posters to serve as a digital course packet for the students since they are unable to visit the collections in-person. New interactive 3D artifact models provided by the 3D Scanning Lab in the Bizzell Memorial Library enhance these offerings.
|
Special collections play an important role in supporting teaching and learning, as well as research. Before the pandemic led to the campus closure in March, eight classes visited the 5th floor special collections in Bizzell. Learn more about the benefits of these class visits.
