Hello friends--

Yesterday, with a bit of frustration I wrote a friend that it seems like I'm either "staring at a screen or looking for beans"!

Looking for beans was last month. Not green beans, but white navy beans. As we went along the rows, Raina and our worker Zlatko left me in the dust, and Dora was off hunting for lizards. Fortunately Raina's 75-year-old mother wasn't with us to leave me feeling totally hopeless ;-> On the other hand, back in Sofia I've made three trips to the building that is the Bulgarian counterpart to the Department of Agriculture office. There I have fascinating conversations with the other people waiting in line outside, like, "Is this the line for this? Or for that?" "Which floor? Which door?"

The past couple weeks have been staring at a screen--this screen you see, on my kitchen table with my geraniums in the background and my tablet to the right so that I can use its memory to write my ideas down before I forget them. My September prayer letter is below, where I've explained what I'm up to. Click on the letter and the pdf version of it will pop up on your screen. And where it says "Please pray we would complete our analysis in time"? Please do pray, right now, because I'm having a real struggle finishing my part of the job in time. I decided that it was better use of my time to take a break and ask you to pray than to just keep staring at this screen.

Many thanks!
