Dear Solano Church Family,

You should have received a letter on Monday with details about our upcoming Annual Meeting, which is scheduled for Sunday, September 27. After sending the letter, we (the Council) realized an error regarding Paul Slius and his current two-year term, which will expire this month. The Council would like to recommend renewing his term for another two years, and will add him to the ballot. Please find Paul’s bio below.

We apologize for the oversight and we are grateful for your grace as we work toward our upcoming meeting.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at council@solanochurch.org with any questions or concerns about the proposed 2020-2021 budget and church council nominees.

In His service,

Solano’s Church Council

Scott Chan, Kim Foster, Andrew Hoffman, Jason Lau, Eddie Navarro, Sara Rader, & Paul Sluis

Bio for Nominee

Paul Sluis

Paul was raised bilingually in a Dutch immigrant family in Southern California. His childhood introduction to the Christian faith came from his Christian family, their Reformed church, and the Free Methodist church that met next door to his home. As a young man he made the somewhat perilous transition from believing in Christ because his parents said so to believing in Christ on His own authority.

After spending a year studying in France, Paul came to the Bay Area to study law at UC Berkeley and joined Trinity Evangelical Free Church in El Cerrito. He served for many years as chairman of its Deacon Board and as keyboard player for worship. Paul worked on the merger transition team and has been active at Solano since Trinity and SCC joined together, serving on our Church Council for 2 years. Paul is excited about the mission of Solano Church and is eager to advance that mission.

Paul is single and lives in Oakland, having retired from active law practice after working at AC Transit for 17 years. He continues to chair the Board of Directors of Support Circle, which operates licensed medical clinics providing support to women in unplanned pregnancies.
