Dear Indivisibles,

Something amazing happened on Monday night

With Trump just across the river, with wildfires raging, with so much wrong in our country… something very right happened online. In partnership with Sister District CA-3, we welcomed 84 activists—many of them first-timers—to a special “Sac Trump” phonebank. We worked together to make 2,656 phone calls in two hours, reaching 740 voters for the Biden-Harris campaign.

And something amazing is happening tomorrow.

If you donated money for our shuttered Volunteer Center, you will be happy to know that your dollars are on their way to two key states to increase voter participation, especially among marginalized groups.

Let us explain.

Back in January, Indivisible Yolo and Sister District CA-3 turned to our activist community to fund a physical space where we could do our essential work. We opened the Center on March 7 and…well, you know the rest. While we met our lease obligations, we were not able to use the Center the way we had imagined. Instead, we switched to an all-remote operation due to the work of dozens of hard-working, innovative team leaders.

Your substantial donations were given with the intent of furthering our election goals this year. So, this week, the joint leadership teams of Sister District CA-3 and Indivisible Yolo met to decide how to spend the money in the most impactful way. Due to non-profit status, we could not give it to a candidate. So team leaders reached out to all our partners, researched options carefully, and made a decision.

$9,999 of your dollars will be going to the Environmental Voter Project to fund get-out-the-vote texting in Georgia and other critical states. $3,000 of your dollars are on their way to Native Peoples Action to send organizers to remote indigenous communities in Alaska with voting information in native languages.

In both cases, we will make a critical difference in states where U.S. Senate seats are up for grabs. In both cases, we are assisting proven efforts to activate voters for this election!

We will be able to share more at each of our upcoming general meetings (Sept. 28th for Indivisible Yolo and Oct. 7 for Sister District CA-3). But, if you’d like to hear more about the critical work of the Native Peoples Action, we encourage you to take advantage of a Flip the West webinar on Thursday and, if you can, consider making an additional donation to its important work.

WHAT: Webinar & Fundraiser for Native Peoples Action (sponsored by Flip the West)
WHEN: Thurs., Sept. 17, 5p
WHY: Learn about this group’s unique program to increase Native Alaskan engagement in this election, in a state where polls show Senate candidates tied
HOW: Register for the Zoom meeting here.

We are so proud this week to be part of such a large, caring community determined to change our country.

In solidarity,
Indivisible Yolo Leadership Team
