Our Keynote Speaker - Frances Ekwerekwu

Our keynote speaker for the evening will be Frances Ekwerekwu. "Francie" is an attorney and devoted advocate for children of incarcerated parents. Her knowledge is expansive and her compassion is boundless, hearing her speak is an honor! Her story of growing up with an incarcerated parent is both moving and motivational.

Hair Services for a Child

You can win this auction item that will then provide a hair wash, cut, and style for an OK Messages child or caregiver in need of hair care services for black hair by a black barber and stylist. Our generous donors have donated services for 15 individuals.

Be a Host Home!
Consider hosting an in-person watch party! To socially distance, and only have a small number of people gathered, we are asking people to host about 8-10 friends or family that they are comfortable being around to watch the virtual event. You can do this by inviting people to your home, back yard, church, restaurant, or anywhere that has a room with a television or computer screen and wi-fi fast enough to view the virtual event on Facebook.

To host an in-person watch party:

Make a guest list.
Invite your guests by phone, email, text, Facebook, or all of the above. If someone you invite doesn't feel comfortable watching in-person, be sure to pass on the link to watch at home.
Plan for dinner or snacks, drinks, and fun. This is up to you! You're the host. Make the event your own!
If you sign up as a host, we will provide two bottles of wine and materials for your guests about the OK Messages mission. Please let us know your plans in advance so we can make delivery arrangements.
Your job is to provide a comfortable place for guests to watch the virtual event, participate in the silent auction, raffle, and offer them the information to be able to donate. You won't be expected to ask your guests to donate, only provide them a location to hear the mission.
