Well done Knox, a pretty good result, congratulations to all that entered images for selection, and to Pete for his winning the Open Section, and Bec for her merit. Also Kim and Gwyn for their Merits in the Black and White section. Thanks also to our selection panel and Peter Knight for all his work in managing the Knox entry.

Next online meeting will be Wed 23rd September.
Zoom door will be open around 7.30pm, login details in the next Newsletter. This meeting will be the Image Evaluations by VAPS/APJA judge Mario Mirabile who will give his critique verbally (as normally happens at a meeting).
Note: there will be no written comments for this event.
Written comments are a luxury and take an inordinate amount of time for judges to prepare in addition to the work involved in providing the critique.

Image Evaluations
Important.

You can enter your images into the October and November Image Evaluations NOW, just log into VP, here.

Note:
The November Image Evaluation “Unrestricted”:

ALL images shown using our Visual Pursuits software will have the title of the image and the maker of the image displayed.

The maker of the image
will not be seen by the judge until the presentation night.
The judge is instructed to only give a constructive critique, no scoring other than a few commendeds at the end. This is a trial process.

Syllabus 2021

The syllabus sub - committee made up of more than a dozen KPS members have started to meet and put the 2021 syllabus together.
Absolutely looking on the bright side of the Covid19. Anyone can contribute ideas, but they need to have them sooner rather than later. Once we start to lock in room hire, speakers, judges, outings etc it is very difficult to change.

If you have any ideas that you think could / should be considered email them to me and I will pass them onto the sub committee. (Rob
msec@optusnet.com.au). ( by Sept 20th) Note: Outings like Castlemaine and Sea Lake held over from 2020 will probably neeTd to run in 2021. They will be taking into account your responses in the club survey.

The book has been printed and is now being bound so "The Mallee - A journey through north-west Victoria", will soon be on its way to those hundreds of people who have already ordered their copy online.

Everyone involved in this project is excited to see the finished product.
We know the pictures are great, the words are wonderful and the fantastic design will combine with a superb print quality from an award winning Victorian printer, Adams Print, to make an exceptional book.
No cheap printing offshore for this book, it is an all Victorian affair and we need to support local business' in these trying times.
We expect that deliveries will start in October but the book can be ordered online now from Ten Bag Press.
This will make a great Christmas present!

The Quiz.

This week’s Image is not actually a Quiz

Studying other photographers is really part of the photography learning process.

#1 with 764 points in the Sony 2017 Worlds best Photography

Masayasu Sakuma, Japan

(Open Competition, Nature)

Diamond-Dust. This picture was taken in February in Nagano-ken at an altitude of about 1,700 meters. In Japan, February is the coldest season in a year. Diamond dust can be seen only a few times during cold season. So, it took four years to make this work since I started taking diamond dust. Orange circle is diamond dust. Diamond dust usually looks white, but it turns into orange just for the morning sunrise. I expressed the diamond dust as a silent forest fairy. (Masayasu Sakuma)

The Quiz from last week.
  1. Who was the original creator of this image? Man Ray

  2. What is his real name? Emmanuelk Radnitzky

  3. What term did he use for a Photogram? Rayograph

  4. This artist was pretty famous for Dada and Surrealism, what is Dada?

Dada or Dadaism was an art movement of the European avant-garde in the early 20th century, with early centers in Zürich, Switzerland, at the Cabaret Voltaire; New York Dada began circa 1915, and after 1920 Dada flourished in Paris. Wikipedia
