Holy Communion with our Online Worship!

Preparation Suggestions Below

Before Online Worship begins, you can prepare for communion by setting up a cup of wine or grape juice, and a small plate with a piece of bread or a cracker. What is most important is that you are present for this holy sacrament, and the people of God are praying together.

Altar Flowers are given by Carol Mayo in memory of her father, Herman Freitag’s, birthday on September 19.

Second Mile Giving

“Second-mile giving” refers to an extra offering toward a special cause. Our second mile giving for September goes to PEP Housing. PEP Housing is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to providing seniors with limited income access to affordable quality housing with supportive services and advocacy. Celebrating 42 years of service this year, PEP Housing began as a small, all-volunteer organization formed by dedicated local civic leaders and clergy. Now, over 700 seniors reside in 19 beautiful PEP Housing communities widely recognized for excellence in eco-friendly development and service-enriched programs. Today, the demand continues to grow, and PEP Housing responds with several other projects in pre-development.

Offering can be given through Tithe.Ly or mailed to the Church Office at 504 Baker St.
*If donating to Second Mile Giving, please note "2nd Mile: PEP" in your preferred offering method. Thanks!
NEW THIS WEEK

Virtual Relay for Life: Saturday, September 19

Virtual Luminary Ceremony at 7 p.m.

Our Relay for Life this year will be on Saturday, September 19th and will be virtual! The Elim Lites have always appreciated the support of our Elim members. We haven't been there at our donation table, but we still have been fundraising to find a CURE for cancer. If you haven't already donated and would like to, you can go onto the Relay for Life site. We also have another way to donate and that is to go onto the Silent Auction site and bid on an item or two.

We also invite you to our virtual luminary ceremony at 7 p.m.

Thanks once again for your support, Captain Nancy

LOCAL AND GLOBAL COMMUNITY

Urgent: California wildfires

Fueled by a heat wave and unfavorable winds, devastating wildfires are raging across California, Oregon, Washington and other western states. At least 20 people have died, hundreds of thousands of people are under evacuation orders and more than 3.5 million acres have burned across the three states. Some evacuees face the difficult decision of whether to stay in a shelter during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Your gifts will support wildfire survivors. Gifts to "U.S. Wildfires" will be used in full (100%) to assist those affected by wildfires until the response is complete.  PLEASE GIVE NOW

E-alert: Hurricane Laura

Hurricane Laura, a powerful Category 4 storm, has hit Louisiana and parts of Texas with devastating force, causing at least three deaths, major damage and leaving hundreds of thousands without power. With extremely dangerous storm surge and winds of at least 150 mph, it’s one of the most powerful storms to hit the area in a century, and it left widespread destruction in its wake.

Lutheran Disaster Response is engaging with Lutheran Social Services Disaster Response (Upbring) and the Northern Texas-Northern Louisiana, Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast and Southwestern Texas synods, which are assessing the immediate needs and initiating a response. While the extent of the damage is not yet known, we will accompany devastated communities from immediate relief through long-term recovery.

Your gifts designated for “Hurricane Response” will be used entirely (100%) for direct response until it is complete. PLEASE GIVE NOW

Support PPSC During the COVID-19 Pandemic

PPSC is working tirelessly to make sure that our seniors and other at-risk community members are safe and taken care of.

Our support efforts during the pandemic include: Expanded Meals on Wheels routes, newly launched "You Are Not Alone"program,  counselors are working to provide online therapy sessions, working to keep our clients in their homes and to help them navigate the processes for filing for unemployment, disability & medical leave, and more.

For those of you with the means to do so, please donate what you can to help us continue to expand the essential services to a community in need, and to keep the lights on and make sure that our hard-working staff is paid during these rocky economic times.

Click here to Donate. Thanks as always for your continued support.

ELCA COVID-19 Response Fund

Weeks may have passed since you last walked in the doors of your congregation and worshiped, face-to-face, with your community of faith. To be sure, being the body of Christ looks and feels differently than it ever has before.

With congregations and ministries across the country, and a network of companion churches and partners in over 70 countries around the world, we anticipate this crisis will affect us all. Your gifts to the ELCA’s COVID-19 Response Fund will provide funds to the ministries of the ELCA most in need and best positioned to help. This includes our congregations as well as local and churchwide ministries capable of reaching and assisting those in need. If you are able, please help with a gift today. Donate Now
