Blessing of Transgender Journeys

MCCLV hosts an annual Blessing of Transgender Journeys on Sunday, October 4 at 11:30am during its weekly hybrid worship service. MCCLV celebrates the wholeness and holiness of transgender people with a spiritual blessing. People in all stages of transition and all ages are welcome to receive the blessing.

Monica Roberts (blogging at Transgriot: https://transgriot.blogspot.com/) writes about transpeople's transformation: "We start our lives in our birth gender presentation and body configuration, go through transition, and then exit the other side of our transitions as the beautiful people we always were with the gender identification and body finally matching for us to happily live our lives."

WELD @ MCCLV

Welders join metal parts together and work on the metal components of various structures including bridges, power plants, buildings, refineries, automobiles or ships. In the church, welding is about connecting people to God and God's people. MCCLV's New Member process is called "WELD" because its purpose is to connect disciples with God and with other disciples.

For the first time ever, MCCLV's WELD New Member classes will be held entirely online. Classes will meet via Zoom on Tuesday nights in October @ 7pm: October 6, 13, 20 and 27.

All are welcome, register for the WELD classes and receive the first homework assignment by emailing MCCLV's Office Administrator Lauren Noll at LaurenNoll@mcclv.info
The Disciple's Role in Social Activism

Coming up soon on the first Sunday of October, MCCLV offers a four-part series of classes on "The Disciple's Role in Social Activism." The objective of the series is to explore and discuss the role of Christians in the fight against systemic racism and poverty. The four-week study will explore four broad categories of oppression against people of color and people who are poor. Both the Hebrew Bible and the Christian scriptures have prominent themes woven throughout that explicitly testify to God’s justice for the oppressed, the poor and foreigner. Activism against bigotry and poverty is a holy fight that the congregation commits to weekly, as the faith community collectively states that "MCCLV's purpose is to worship and serve God through acts of justice and compassion."

The classes will be facilitated by Lisa Noriega, Lisa Engle and other MCCLV Action Team Members. All are welcome. Mark your calendars for 10am on October 4, 11, 18 & 25 via Zoom ID 851 1250 3116
2020 Tricky Tray Event Cancelled

MCCLV’s Tricky Tray Committee has come to the difficult decision of cancelling this year’s Tricky Tray event due to the COVID-19 pandemic in that it may not be safe or advised to hold a gathering of its usual size indoors this year. Also, the Tricky Tray Committee does not want to burden its generous supporters during this time of financial uncertainty or unemployment by seeking basket donations and ticket sales. The Committee has every intention of holding the 2021 Tricky Tray event on Saturday, November 6, 2021 with the theme, “A Day at the Fair.”
