Please join us next Thursday for the premier program of AAUW of North Carolina’s new virtual program series;

“Title IX and Higher Education”

Register Here

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 states:

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal assistance. . . .” (20 U.S.C. section 1681)

AAUW reminds us that “in 2017, Secretary of Education, Betsy Devos, began the process of rolling back years of civil rights protections for students across the country by rescinding guidance on Title IX.” These changes were effective August 14, 2020.

Why is Title IX important to women and girls?

How do the recently enacted changes by the Dept. of Education threaten Title IX?

How can I use my “power” to get these changes reversed?
