Montgomery County Climate Action Plan Update

October 7, 4:00 PM EDT
In July 2019, Montgomery County launched a planning process to develop prioritized actions and strategies to meet the County’s greenhouse gas emissions reduction goals. Our own Kim Goddu served on not one but two of the working groups established to create recommendations to help the County achieve zero emissions and create a resilient climate.

Join Bethesda Green on October 7th for a virtual chat with Adriana Hochberg, Assistant Chief Administrative Officer & Climate Change Coordinator in the Office of the County Executive. Find out how the plan would affect you and your family, local businesses, and how to provide comments on the upcoming draft!

Updates from the Innovation Lab

Elysian.Compostable has stayed busy this year, winning a $100,000 Maryland Industrial Partnerships (MIPS) grant. Elysian is currently developing industrial hemp compostable carton packaging, using patented processing technology, to help eliminate plastic pollution.

Elysian is also very excited to welcome aboard Jennifer Vervier, a proven sustainable manufacturing executive and business builder, as Elysian's new Chief Strategy & Partnering Officer.  Jenn was an early team member of New Belgium Brewing, one of the world's first sustainability-focused breweries.  Jenn served as both CFO and COO of New Belgium as she helped to grow it to the 4th largest craft brewer in the United States, with Fat Tire, the first carbon-neutral beer in America.

Innovation Lab Accelerator members Grateful Gardeners and JaM Treats were featured in a shop local popup event over the weekend at The Village at Shirlington. Did you miss it? Follow Grateful Gardeners and JaM Treats to get updates on their products and events.
