Drawing and Painting Workshop

Fees: $5 to cover the cost of supplies.
Unleash the artist in you!
Please come and join us for a morning of fun with art. All abilities welcome.
Pencils, paint and paper will be provided, but bring your own if you have some.
A board and jar for water is useful. We will be tackling a Still Life but you can just 'do your own thing' if you prefer.

The trick with Mahjong is to keep on playing and playing and mastering those tricks, Our current Mahjong players are becoming experts in the games. Join us for a game of Mahjong and experience this old traditional game.

Mahjong is a strategy game that originated in China. It's similar to rummy, but it's played with tiles instead of cards. Generally, you play with 4 people. The goal is to form 4 sets or sequences and a pair, creating Mahjong!

The quiet coffee group meets at Palmer’s cafe in the plant centre at the corner of Central Avenue and Water Street, at 10.30 am, EXCEPT for the last Thursday of the month, when they gather at 11.30 am and have lunch together. Palmers Cafe has a convenient place for free parking.

Clean-up Week 2020 / Keep Whangarei Beautiful

An initiative to keep our beautiful town clean.
Only three of us from WINGS but we managed two hours of collecting litter which filled a big bag. We started off in drizzle which escalated to a heavy shower but, once the rain stopped, thankfully stayed dry. The Hatea Loop is fairly litter-free but cigarette ends are still a problem and, as you can see, so much plastic and rubbish get blown into the bushes. Not a problem for Mina!

A Glimpse of Maori Culture

We had a wonderful day at Hihiaua Cultural Centre. A very well organised workshop which included, Flax weaving, Learning Waiata in sign language, Maori Medicine and dressing up in Maori clothing and getting a portrait picture. The team at Hihiaua made us feel so welcome.
A few comments from the attendees:
