“So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: ‘Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them.’” Acts 4:24

Remember the Creator

By Pastor Jared Miller

The disciples had been on a rollercoaster experience.  Through the powerful name of Jesus they had healed a man who couldn’t walk since his birth 40 years ago.  Peter preaches a powerful message.  Many people are believing in the risen Christ.  This is a spiritual high!
But then the religious leaders shut them down, and throw them into jail for a night.  This is a low point.
The next day, Peter must answer before the Sanhedrin for what has taken place.  Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, boldly lifts up the powerful name of Jesus.  The Sanhedrin severely threaten them to stop teaching in Jesus’ name—OR ELSE!  Jail was not the ultimate threat—execution was. These same leaders were responsible for having Jesus executed by crucifixion.
When Peter and John report all of this to the others, they immediately pray.  And their prayer, as recorded above in Acts 4:24, begins by affirming God as the creator—essentially quoting the 4th commandment (Exodus 20:11) regarding the seventh-day Sabbath which God instituted at the end of creation week.
In the midst of threats and oppositions, the disciples remembered their Creator God and called out to Him.  In the midst of the trials you’re going through, remember your Creator God and call out to Him.  He set aside the 7th day, Saturday, to be a perpetual reminder to us that He is our Creator God, and that He loves us so much He wants to spend special time with us every Sabbath day.  So as Sabbath begins tonight at sundown, call out to your Creator—spend time with Him on His holy day.
