Hello.
There is so much happening in the water environment sector and it's great to see the health of our rivers becoming more relevant to everyone.
We continue to work in COVID-19 adapted ways, but there are many opportunities to get involved with our work across the Westcountry - read on to find out more.

Save the Date - Tuesday 29 September from 1pm to 2pm -
Plymouth River Keepers

Come along to our first online get-together to officially introduce Plymouth River Keepers (PRK).

Meet the team working in our initial locations in North West Plymouth and find out how you can take part.
You can hear more about the history of the area with our colleagues from the Bioregional Learning Centre, see a short film about how citizen science will play a big role for this project, and hear from one of our scientists about the ecology of the locations.

There will be time to chat to the team about how you think available funds can be spent to
keep the streams at the bottom of your gardens and ends of your roads flourishing - for wildlife, for you, for others and for always.

Visit: wrt.org.uk/project/plymouth-river-keepers/ to book your FREE place.
Full details to join the session will be provided after registration.

'Leaky walls' work wonders on Walkhampton Common

It's fair to say, most people wouldn’t want a ‘leaking wall’ but that’s exactly what the River Operations Team at Westcountry Rivers Trust built on Walkhampton Common, Devon, to help with flood management.

Climate change adaptation for rural communities

The National Lottery Community Fund has awarded Duchy College, part of The Cornwall College Group, more than £1 million to run The Farm Net Zero project to help the farming community move towards net-zero carbon emissions.

We were very excited to have made the shortlist for the IEMA Sustainability Impact Awards 2020 Consultancy and Collaboration and the Biodiversity and Net Gain categories and to take part in the online awards ceremony.

Our nominations related to our work with the Tamar Water Stewardship Business Board, a collaboration of food and drink businesses with direct links to the Tamar catchment and wider south west.
Together we have been developing our approach and supporting a joint action plan which aims to increase sustainability in their supply chains, from primary producer through to consumer.
This has included work with their farmer suppliers, either with direct advice and guidance, opportunities for investment and enhancement, and/or grant funded support for interventions which provide environmental protection.

Visit wrt.org.uk/tamar-water-stewardship-business-board for full details on how your business can get involved.
Going, Going...? Time for Action

We are a partner in a fish and river conservation project, led by the Teign Angling & Conservation Association, that aims to increase the numbers of Salmon and Sea Trout returning to the River Teign and its tributaries.
