Dear readers,

The leaves are starting to fall, the nights are drawing in and you may have even turned the heating on once or twice! It's safe to say that summer is nearly over. However with that comes lovely autumn walks, an abundance in natures larder and cosy evenings indoors

Here at The Matthew Project, the autumn brings our brand new menu of education services, the restart of Hangout youth club and some exciting events for you to be part of

So as always, grab that cuppa and please read on to hear more of our latest news

The highlights...
Back to school, but not back to “normal.”
As children returned to schools last week, we launched a brand new menu of services for navigating the new normal. Offering a range of support for young people in Norfolk who could do with a little extra help in our post COVID world. From life coaching to a brand new menu of education services including a 6 week wellbeing support programme. If you would like to find out more or think your school/child could benefit from what we offer, do not hesitate to get in touch at youth@matthewproject.org and find out more here
Freedom in Remembrance Service
We're pleased to announce that tickets for our remembrance service have now sold out and plans are finalised. We'll be sending an email to attendees next week with final details. If you are interested in seeing the service but have not been able to get a ticket, we'll be broadcasting the half hour live on Facebook to our event page which can be found here starting from 7.30pm on Thursday 24th September.
The picture above is of the peace globe - a metalwork sculpture in the Nave of the cathedral where attendees will be invited to light a candle in remembrance of those lost and suffering due to drug and alcohol use. A poignant reminder of the work we do and must keep doing here at The Matthew Project
Norfolk Coastal Path Ultramarathon
With only six weeks to go until Jack takes on a challenge of a lifetime, he's been training hard in preparation for an ultramarathon of 134km along the Norfolk Coastal Path. As a warm up, he took on the National Three Peaks Challenge which involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales, often within 24 hours. On Saturday 26th September, come and see Jack outside the Forum, Norwich where he will be training on his running machine from 10am to 6pm. If you can't make that, he'll also be at Aylsham Marketplace on Saturday 3rd October. Do pop by and say hello. So far, we're up to £1,146 with funds raised, so if you'd like to help #getjackto10k, please donate using the button below
Donate and #getjackto10k
We are looking for runners to support Jack and fundraise with 5k portions of the route - Is this something you or someone you know would be interested in? Get in touch with sarah.king@matthewproject.org to find out and help #getjackto10k
More news for this week...
Youth Club Starts Again!
Great news this week as we're restarting HANGOUT on Friday 25th September at 6.00pm – 8.00pm at our lovely Next Steps Centre in Norwich. Geared at 10-16 year olds, Hangout provides support for young people who are affected by substance misuse issues. Find out more on our website here
On Track are still On Track!
Here's a picture from our On Track team who are delivering 1-2-1 sessions and socially distanced group work from our beautifully converted building in Oak Street. Brilliant to see young people engaging and making a difference to their futures. Find out more about On Track here
National Fitness Day!
Don't forget it's #nationalfitnessday on Wednesday 23rd of September. Join The Matthew Project Team for a football/basketball session at Jenny Lind Park from 1-5pm. Free to all & sure to raise a few smiles! Get fit, have fun & stay connected. We hope to see you there
To finish...

That's it for today. As you can see we have LOTS to be proud of and lots to get done, but below is some feedback from one of our service users that reminds us why our work is so important

“The Recovery Support Programme [at Next
Steps] has provided me with coping mechanisms
to maintain sobriety, teaching me self-care and
worth. To strive for and achieve my goals.” Anne

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe
