High Sheriff of Shropshire supports Recovery Month

A month-long event aimed at helping people in recovery from drug and alcohol use has garnered the support of the High Sheriff of Shropshire.

Dean Harris will be promoting Recovery Month (September) as part of her commitment to highlighting drug and alcohol issues in the county.

A series of events will run throughout the month organised by Shropshire Recovery Partnership (run by drug, alcohol and mental health charity We Are With You). The aims include increasing awareness, challenging stigma and celebrating the success of those in recovery.

Village hall near Shrewsbury gets makeover

Work has been completed on a village hall near Shrewsbury after it won a competition for a makeover.

Ford Village Hall was the winner of the SWG Community Building Award organised by SWG Construction, which has offices in Welshpool and Shrewsbury, and the Shropshire Rural Communities Charity.

The competition was run to find a community building in need of some improvements, with the winner receiving £1,000 in the form of materials and professional expertise from SWG.

Rural Arts Salon this Thursday

Two local rural touring initiatives are collaborating to create an event for local artists.

Creatives from the Marches region are invited to join the Rural Arts Salon this Thursday 17th September. Arts Alive are co-hosting the virtual arts meeting with rural theatre, Pentabus, to bring together arts professionals to discuss ‘Navigating Change & Going Live.’
