October 11 Fall Foliage Ride
Our friends at the Yough River Trail Council are hosting their annual Bud Murphy's Fall Foliage Ride/Walk starting in Yough Park in Connellsville at 12:00 noon. Enjoy the peak autumn leaves and support the volunteers who maintain a section of the GAP. While you're there, explore turn-of-the-century mansions, the beautiful murals on Arch Street, and get ice cream or coffee while on the around-town Connellsville Bike Loop.
GAP Hosts 9/11 Route
Earlier this month, our friends at the September 11 National Memorial Trail broke ground on a new 1.8-mile spur from the Great Allegheny Passage in Garrett, northward toward the Flight 93 National Memorial, as part of an eventual 1,300-mile route connecting the three sites where hijacked planes crashed on Sept. 11, 2001. The Great Allegheny Passage is honored to host the 9/11 route from Cumberland to Garrett.
