Good to see you here, because we have lots to share! Next to a new release of Weaviate, we’ve also launched Weaviate Clients in Python ánd JavaScript, together with brand-new documentation. Weaviate 0.22.17
Yes, 0.22.17! While we are working on the first stand-alone version, updates to the Weaviate vector search engine keep coming at high speed. Some highlights of past releases are:
- Weaviate’s configuration is now specified through environment variables, so it’s easier to deploy in the cloud or with docker-compose. The documentation even offers a tool to generate your docker-compose file!
- Introduction of ‘underscore properties’, which tells you info about an object’s classification details, vector index interpretation, nearest neighbors, feature projection for visualization, and the semantic path of semantic search results.
- Optional Compound Splitting in the Contextionary, which makes the Contextionary split and understand compound words, which is important for vectorization of words in languages like Dutch and German. Learn more here.
- Improved classification performance, by utilizing available resources.

Weaviate on Google Cloud Marketplace
Weaviate is now available as a Kubernetes app from the Google Cloud Marketplace. Whether you choose to use Weaviate as an open-source, premium, professional, or enterprise solution, it's all deployable in the Google Kubernetes Engine. Configure your Weaviate there, and depending on your plan we contact you to provide access to our maintenance and support channels!
Python and JavaScript Weaviate Clients
Why have only one client, when you can have two? The new-released clients offer smooth interaction between your applications and Weaviate, from schema initialization to data imports and from GraphQL requests to data classification. All RESTful API and GraphQL functions of Weaviate you are familiar with are reflected in the clients, enriched with even more features for convenience where possible. Don’t forget to check them out and use them in your projects!
Weaviate documentation update
While the software is growing, so is the documentation. The documentation of Weaviate and its Python and JavaScript clients are completely renewed. Learn how to work and interact with Weaviate by visiting the website. Make sure to also check out the brand new ‘How-to’ pages, even more tutorials, and videos are coming!
