Happy Friday Everyone:

  • We are so eager to welcome you back to in-person Sunday services and we are doing our very best to provide you with a safe and very meaningful worship experience. I’m loving seeing those of you who can be here! As always, we are still livestreaming both of our Sunday services and we love seeing you virtually as well.

  • Got Discernment? That’s the title of our message this Sunday as we conclude our series from 1 Thessalonians. The key text is 1 Thessalonians 5:19-22.

  • Discernment is a vital spiritual skill. It keeps you from being a Christian space cadet so that you can discern the best from the good, the good from the bad, and the almost good from the imposters. Discernment looks beyond the surface and can read between the lines. Jesus warned us about following blind guides who lead into ditches (Matthew 7) and 1 Thessalonians will teach us to “eat the meat and throw away the bones.”

  • Do you want to have a discerning mindset that can handle nuances and not just generalizations? I believe you do. Discernment is essential and that is our topic for this Sunday.

  • Whatever you do, don’t forget generosity during these days and especially generosity to your church family as we serve locally and globally. Martha and I automate our giving online. Will you? Or make that special gift that is beyond online? We can receive that as well. Our church is doing our part to streamline and we are asking you to do what you can generously do to help us all move through this tough season in a healthy way.

  • Kyle Strickland’s Sunday morning 10:00am online class will be a teaching from Colossians 1:23-29, where Paul says some remarkable things about his own personal suffering for the sake of the gospel. Kyle will talk about suffering and share some passages from the New Testament that specifically give an answer to why we suffer at all. This is an excellent class with opportunities for feedback and discussion.  Miss last Sunday’s Conversation? Click here to watch.

  • Our Chronic Pain & Illness Support Group is meeting over ZOOM (for the moment). No matter our diagnosis, we rest assured that God is holding our hand as we walk this journey together. Please join us for prayer and encouragement as God works in us and through us. Contact Cindy Scott at sundown978@aol.com or Bryan Sparks at bryansparks@mac.com for more info.

  • If you are craving some people connection and good Bible study discussion, then Ryan Bien wants you to know that we have several Connection Groups meeting online this fall. All of these groups would love to add new people. There are options for couples, singles, men’s and women’s groups. Here’s a link with details and signup: Online Connection Groups.

  • We received an encouraging thank you note, and I want you to be aware of this, to several Connection Groups that prepared meals for homeless families in Fort Bend County through Family Promise“These are tough times for many families facing eviction and foreclosure, and your church response brought down that level of distress a few notches, showing the love of Christ to those in pain.”

  • We have so many options for you this fall and you can find them all right here. Go ahead, step in, take a flyer and see what happens for good. Passivity gets you nowhere. Motion gets you almost there. But action, real action, gets you in position to move forward to where you really want to go.

Just know that I love you and pray for you,
Ronnie
