Join us this Wednesday for the first of a series of Wed@Ones hosted by this semester's Floria Lasky Visiting Artist, Jose Solís.
Jose began his career as a critic when he was a teenager and launched a film review website while living in Honduras. He began writing about theatre while attending college in Costa Rica, and upon moving to NYC in 2012 focused entirely on the stage. His work has appeared in The New York Times, American Theatre, TDF Stages, Backstage, 3 Views, and America Magazine. He is the co-creator and co-host of the Token Theatre Friends podcast/web series.
His first guest will be trailblazing actress, activist, singer, DJ, and star of RuPaul’s Drag Race: Peppermint.
Theatre students can submit questions for the Q&A. Record yourself asking the question or submit it in text form.

The University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest (SZFE) is currently being occupied by its students and staff, in opposition to a new bill that threatens the autonomy of the university. According to BBC, SZFE is the seventh institution to be transferred to the control of private foundations where the board of directors are selected by the government.
The new head of the board, Attila Vidnyanszky, said the board is open to dialogue, but he wants a "different kind of thinking" at the university, adding that existing classes would be kept with some emphasis placed on patriotism and Christianity.
Theatre alumnus and Hungarian citizen Zsofi sent the following video, reaching out for support:

If you would like to support SZFE, please take a selfie with the hashtag #FreeSZFE written on your hand and e-mail it to Zsofi. Here are a couple of articles where you can learn more:
