Principal Corner:

NES families,

We are a month into this unusual and unprecedented school year. I am so proud of how hard the students, staff and parents are working and I'm in complete awe every single day on how well everyone has adjusted and remained positive. I recognize and respect that this isn't easy, but I also know that in some small (or large) way we will all come out stronger when we are on the other side of this pandemic.

I would like to thank our friends and community partners at RMCC for volunteering their time and energy this week to completely transform our Science Garden. They did an amazing job and we can't thank them enough. 4 hours later, lots of mulch, a completely full roll-off, much sweat, endless cutting, trimming, and raking and lots of love, we have a Science Garden that one staff member said, "has never, ever looked better!" Thank you RMCC! This was a true testament to how special our Niwot community is.

Don't forget to tune in Monday evening at 6:00pm for the SVVSD Virtual Town Hall meeting where more detailed information about potential changes to our school schedules will be shared. One thing I know for sure, no matter the teaching/learning model, we will continue to give our NES students and families our very best.

Thanks for your support,

Nancy Pitz
Principal
Thank you RMCC!

iPADs are here!
We have received the next shipment of iPads and now we have one for every student! If you don't have a district issued iPad yet please stop by the school between 8:00am-4:00pm to pick one up.  Our goal is to get an iPad in the hands of every single student (this includes students that are doing LaunchED).
Bus Transportation Information
If you have not already done so, please register your student for transportation services no later than September 25th to request busing. Students will be evaluated for eligibility based upon ride zone, school of attendance, and space availability. Parents will receive confirmation that a seat on the bus has been reserved in the event we return. Please do not send your student to a bus stop if you have not received confirmation. *Please note that due to the strict orders from our county and state health agency partners, we will not be able to accommodate transportation for all eligible riders. To this end, we strongly encourage families to transport their own students to school or make alternative arrangements.

20-21 Electronic Behavioral Code of Conduct

This important document guides students and school staff on what the expectations are for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.

After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgment that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgment, please follow the steps described here.

We are thrilled to announce that the curbside library is now open for book check out! Please follow the instructions on this tutorial to place books on hold. Once your books are ready, you will receive an email from the librarian. Book pick up will be every Friday from 10 am to 2 pm. Books will be checked out and placed alphabetically on tables in front of the school.

If you have library books that are still checked out from the spring, please return them at this time.

Book Quarantine Process:

When books are returned on Fridays, they will sit in the bins for 72 hours before being reshelved. I will be wearing a mask and gloves when I pull your books from the shelves.

If you have any questions, please contact Andrea Chen at chen_andrea@svvsd.org.

We urge all parents to review and update their information in Infinite Campus so that we have the most current information for your family on file.
Please check out the links below, and if you need any help setting up your account, please feel free to contact our office.

Each year St. Vrain Valley School District completes a process to identify students in grades K-12 who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic or talent areas and may therefore qualify for Gifted and Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s) and require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas. Nominations need to be submitted by September 30th. Please note: not all students will automatically go into testing as historical data is closely looked at.  Also, if your child is already identified you do not need to nominate them.
