The September meeting for the Chamber will be our first Face to Face event since February, goodness what a long time ago that was in both days and life changing events.

I am looking forward to seeing all those who were lucky enough to purchase a ticket for our Meet the Candidates Breakfast.

With the COVID restrictions in place there was limit and will continue to be for all future breakfast face to face meetings, until the situation changes for everyone in Queensland.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of your Executive who have maintained contact, worked diligently to ensure that members are “connected”, and stayed upbeat by finding ways and means to continue the great work this fabulous Chamber of Commerce has carried out over the past few decades.
If you know of a business, or business-person, who may need the support, guidance and just friendship which the Chamber offers, suggest to them they come along to these meetings. Now more than ever Chambers of Commerce need to be the linchpin for sole traders and small business enterprises to stay connected.

Looking forward to seeing everyone, on September 22 and at our future meetings. Remember to book early to avoid disappointment.  Mary

Well, welcome to Spring, but more importantly welcome back to face to face events for the Chamber!

Apologies to those who may have missed out on tickets to our first event, Meet the Candidates; but our following breakfast events will be up online very soon... so if you missed out this time, don’t wait! Donna has been busy in the background sourcing some new and exciting presenters and topics, so stay tuned!

Don’t forget to bring along some marketing material if you’d like your business showcased at the upcoming business expo too. Anita and I will be collecting these and there’s probably a couple of volunteer spaces available on the day to man the table for those wanting to get amongst it.

*One marketing item per business membership (e.g. cards, flyers etc.) and provided to Anita Bird or I by the 21st of October and don’t forget to consider joining at the table on the day. .

I’m also excited to announce that we have two new members this month! I’d love you to join me in welcoming Abe Arends from Arends Legal Solutions and Tim Henry from Henry Lawyers. I can't wait to have all of our new members in the room so that they get to know us face to face.

Wishing you all well and looking forward to seeing some of you this Tuesday morning and for others hopefully a Tuesday morning (or alike) in the not too distant future.   Hayley

CCIQ Small Business is a Big Deal – Campaign

Recently they released a short 2 minute video by CEO Stephen Tait as he talks about the huge importance in our Queensland Economy of what 445,000 Small Business mean to us even locally. In fact, around 44% of Queenslanders are employed by Small Businesses and they contribute $113 billion into the Queensland Economy. When you get 2 minutes free, watch this video and you too will be amazed and reminded of their value. Please click here to watch.

A State-wide CCIQ Campaign, that our Chamber has helped and supported its creation and direction

Our Chamber of Commerce and numerous other Regional Chambers have worked together with CCIQ to produce a very comprehensive package of State-Wide Election Priorities. Next is that CCIQ will be talking to all State Candidates, seeking their support for this package, as we all work together to Transform our Queensland Economy for the Road Ahead.

Some folks and Businesses may not realise the sheer volume of Advocacy worth and importance of what our Chamber of Commerce has and is still achieving for the 445,000 Queensland Businesses. Click here for the link to the Election Priorities.
Moreton Bay Regional Council – items

Recently their Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS), our Advocacy Committee was invited to be involved in the initial comments phase. Then for the final draft we lodged a submission where we fell some areas needed to be highlighted. If anyone would like to view the draft plan or our submission, please contact Brian Battersby.

They have recently created a Business help Newsletter called Business Moreton Bay Region that is the official digital resource centre, tasked with empowering the region’s businesses by providing fee easy-to-access updates, communications, and resources.

Meet the Candidates Committee

Chair | Brian Battersby

A State Election set for Sat 31st Oct 2020.

At the time of drafting this newsletter item our Chamber Meet the State Candidates Forum set for 22/9/20, was still a few days away.  But I must say of the 60 tickets available, they were sold out in a little over 2 weeks of the opening day and 9 Candidates attending.  More in our October Newsletter.
This event was subject to Covid-19 conditions.  Brian
