RBG gave us a model for how to lead

Greetings,

The loss of a life always causes pain and time to painfully pause, waiting for us to catch our breath.

We expect this response when the passing is someone we love deeply. On September 18, 2020, her family and the world lost a woman whose life exemplified courage and integrity.

I never met Ruth Bater Ginsburg, and she certainly never knew me. That doesn’t matter because she spent her life defending the rights of women. Justice Ginsburg defended me. She showed up every day for every woman and man.

Like the people in our personal lives who show up every day for us, the loss of a person we respect and who showed up for millions she never met, time paused. I’m waiting to catch my breath.

Justice Ginsburg asked to be remembered as:

"Someone who used whatever talent she had to do her work to the very best of her ability. And to help repair tears in her society, to make things a little better through the use of whatever ability she has. To do something, as my colleague David Souter would say, outside myself. ‘Cause I’ve gotten much more satisfaction for the things that I’ve done for which I was not paid."

Inspiration worth sharing . . .

  1. I often think about how women influence our lives and the need for strong role models. Here are some of my thoughts:  Women Leaders Show How to Be Your Best.

  2. An hour well spent is this interview with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Watch.

  3. Justice Ginsburg was also a lover of music, so a few musical tributes that perhaps she also enjoyed: This Girl Is on Fire, Who Says, and because she loved opera, Un bel di vedremo from Madame Butterfly. Enjoy.

Inspiring words from Ruth Bater Ginsburg. . .

"My mother told me to be a lady. And for her, that meant be your own person, be independent."

"Real change, enduring change, happens one step at a time."

Be and become #yourbest today and every day.

With gratitude,

Kathryn
