Catholic Newman Center
at the University of Houston
Hello CSO!! I wanted to invite each one of you personally to join us for Breakfast Club either in person or virtually M-F at 9am. We pray the rosary together, then we go get breakfast! It's a great way to start your day on the right foot! We meet in person at the square fountain in front of the career center. You can join us to pray virtually by following this link: https://hangouts.google.com/group/G6C1vkV86gfN8g3X6

We also have a separate GroupMe. You can join here: https://groupme.com/join_group/52469123/XeGBwB3b

Hope to see you there tomorrow!
If you're a new student, you haven't had the honor of experiencing our whiteboard debates like these. While we cannot gather around the whiteboard at the Newman Center, we can gather virtually and let the debate continue. But don't worry it's not just debating. There will be show and tell of lunches and some good old fashion conversation.

For our community night this week, we’ll be joining the Archdiocese’s Cafe Catholica Lite livestream of “How Catholics Should Vote” with Dr. Stuart Squires. This will conclude our month on social justice and will serve as a nice transition to our October topic of faithful citizenship! We hope you’ll join us there next week! You can register for the program for free at the following link:

The Catholic Newman Center remains temporarily closed in compliance with the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston COVID-19 precautions. We are awaiting further directives from the Archdiocese and will provide you updates when we receive them.

Please keep in touch. I look forward to hearing from you. You can reach me via email - johnson.c@aghclergy.org - and on our CSO GroupMe. Let us remain united in prayer and overcome the challenges we face with the hope and strength that God provides.

Or by appointment, contact Fr. Charlie on GroupMe or email him at johnson.c@aghclergy.org
If you will be driving to campus and need a place to park for Mass, you are welcome to use 13A for parking on Sunday mornings and if the code is #3841.

This code is not to be used any other time or we will lose this privilege.
We will be having Daily Mass once a week starting on September 9th at the AD Bruce. Masks are required and there is currently a max of 54 people for the AD Bruce chapel.

We need people to help with set up, tear down, lector, and someone to stream the Mass from their phone (we will have tripod ready). Please contact Fr. Charlie if you are available on GroupMe or email him at johnson.c@aghclergy.org
We have moved it to 4:30PM to accommodate more schedules. Hope you can make it now too!

“Our country conducts a Census every ten years to count the number of men, women and children residing in the United States. Census data helps direct more than $800 billion annually to key programs designed to advance the common good, strengthen families and reduce poverty. The Catholic Church and other service providers rely on the national Census to provide an accurate count in order to effectively serve those in need.”

- The US Catholic Bishops remind us how important it is participate in the Census. Deadline for self-response is September 30th. You and your family can fill it out here: my2020census.gov
- We pray for the communities who have been affected by natural disasters, especially those who lost loved ones or had all they owned destroyed. Bless them with strength, hope, and an abundance of help as they begin rebuilding their communities. We pray for the survivors to find refuge in Jesus Christ. Bless the first responders and all who will be helping these communities with compassion and protection.

- We pray for an end to this pandemic and healing to those who are suffering physically, emotionally, and financially due to the pandemic. May they find peace in Jesus Christ.
