Lewisham to reopen leisure centres from October
A phased reopening of Lewisham’s leisure centres and swimming pools will start from October 2020.

It is anticipated four leisure centres will open in the coming weeks starting with Glassmill, Forest Hill pool and Ladywell Arena in October and Wavelengths in November. Reopening dates will be announced early October. GLL is in the process of undertaking an assessment of centres and the committee have been in contact with them to discuss our requirements.

Club Champs
The last round of Club Champs will be held this Wednesday with both 100m and 800m distance races being held over the evening. Further details for participants racing this week will be sent out by Ben Cook and Rob Laing separately.

A big thank you to both Ben and Rob for organising the championships over the last three weeks and to all the volunteers from the club who have made the events possible helping out with the organisaton and officiating. If you would like more information get in touch with race directors Ben and Rob.
 RESULTS
Club Champs 3000m
Club races continued this week with 3000m and 400m action at Sutcliffe Park on Wednesday evening. The evening was another success and while results are not yet available on Power of 10 there seemed to be a large number of PBs recorded from the Strava results!

Anthony Johnson was crowned men's club champ with a time of 09:06.7, followed by Dave Morgan in 09:10.5 and George Russell in 09:17.4. A special mention to U20's Joseph Yee front-running in the penultimate race in 09:21.2 and U17 Lucas Zurdo coming in second in 09:24.2. Both would have placed well in the last race.

For the women, Alexa Parker captured first place in a 10.22.6 performance followed by Georgina Wiley in 10.26.7 and Victoria Stepanova in 10:53.7.

In the 400m the first race saw every runner go under 60 seconds, however, the race belonged to the young lads with Archie Harper just getting the better of Stanley Forman with 53.5 and 53.9 respectively to be crowned first and second in the champs. Louis Wampler led the second race to come third overall in the champs in a time of 54.3. Vic Buck became the female club 400m champion with Dee O'Brien in second.

Many thanks to all the volunteers for making the evening possible!

Night of the 1500 PBs
Last Tuesday night Belgrave Harriers hosted the night of the 1500m PBs at Battersea park. Kent was well represented with Owen Hind, Jim Allchin, Ben Harding and Dan Pettitt participating in a tactical 'Soar Battle of South London (SW vs SE)' race prior to the A races on the night. While they were unfortunately defeated by the SW Cottage team both Jim and Dan picked up 1500m PB's for their efforts. Additionally, Ian Ellwood continued his run of PBs with a 04:23.1 in one of the previous races.

RunThrough Olympic Park 10k and Kew Gardens 10k
It was a big week for both 10k's and PBs with Tom Sloan running 33:42 at the RunThrough 10k in Olympic Park and Christopher Schofield running 37:19 at Kew Garden. Susie Fairbrass and Ivona Gongolva also ran strong times at Kew on what sounds like it was a hugely twisty (although beautiful!) course.
