Grade 1/2 Orthography Lesson

From Julie

We started our Clubs in term 2 this year and students kept up the good work right through term 3. Congratulations to our Club leaders: Roscoe, Sophie C, Cameron, Georgia, Bella, Anders, Harry and Daisy. I am sure the students who have participated in your clubs have appreciated your leadership and friendship. It was particularly impressive when I saw older students teaching younger students skills like chess, cards etc in such a supportive manner.

Sadly, parents have not been able to come on site to see the circus performances this year but I want to assure you that students put on wonderful performances during our school Gatherings over the last few weeks. Thanks to Owen for coordinating the training and performances. I admire the students’ circus skills and also their confidence to perform in public. Many seem to thrive in the spotlight and all gave it their best effort.

All going well we should be able to start term 4 with new COVID safe guidelines and if there are no further changes we should be able to go on camps too. We received updated information late last week announcing permission to take students camping so we have quickly rebooked at Spring Beach for grades 2 to 6 (November 16th - 18th) and we are checking our Orana camp plans because of limitations on how many are currently allowed to sleepover in the little cottage. We will let you know more about Orana once we have figured out how this might work best. We will involve appropriately hygienic students in preparation of our Monday cooked lunch in term 4 but only Kinders will be doing a very hygienic shared fruit using cups.  Other groups won’t be doing shared fruit or lunches just yet.  Parents will be welcomed back in for parent help so please see the class roster or email your child’s teacher if you are keen to help out. We will still maintain restrictions on adults in classrooms though: only parents doing family jobs, parent help or with an appointment are asked to enter classrooms so we can ensure COVID safe adult ratios please.

Thanks to Hannah and Isabelle and all the parents who have been completing Working Bee jobs around the school. It is certainly beginning to shine ready for a big, busy final term.

We wish you all a fun time with your children during the school holiday period and look forward to seeing you all again next term.
