Come along for our free program and hear first hand accounts of the benefits of sport, and supportive Club culture from players past and present. Learn about the variety of programs and clubs in Maroondah and how to get involved.
You'll get the low down on several sports in week one to help you decide what type of sport you might like to get try.
Program will run
Mondays from 4pm – 5pm 19th October – 2nd November
during term 4, for primary and secondary students aged 6-17 (Two groups 6-11 & 12-17).
It will be a “buddy style” program, where a small groups will get to learn about a range of sporting activities from ex-professional players and passionate, sporting enthusiast peers. It’ll will be run on a volunteer basis and at no cost to the participants, with the aim to support and promote participation in our local sporting clubs through the sharing of first-hand experiences.
The weekly session will be hosted online using ZOOM video conferencing, covering:
Week 1. Intro Sports in Maroondah
Guest ex AFL player speaker.
Introduction to clubs available in the area.
Mentors present their sport. Break out rooms round robin style
Kids are exposed to the sports in the area which will hopefully be, soccer, cricket, netball, basketball, and footy.
Week 2. Sport in Focus
Benefits of team sport presentation
Kids chose their sport then go into smaller breakout groups and Mentors present tips and tricks
Main topic would be Sportsmanship
Week 3. Best foot forward
Sporting club's information presented
How training is run
Other events the club runs
Identification of upcoming opportunity with-in the club (if COVID restrictions permit)
