“Teamwork is the ability to work together towards a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments towards organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows  people to attain uncommon results.” Andrew Carnegie

Principal Corner
Thank you for a fantastic first week of school!  It has been a long time coming with many plans put in place for magic to occur. Nothing is possible without you and the difference you make for students. It takes a community of us to accomplish all the wonderful milestones with students. This past week was a huge milestone in getting students back into our building. I hope you feel more at ease with the week ahead.  Friday was a great chance to catch up on planning and collaboration for the week ahead. I know you all want to be weeks ahead and not just steps ahead of students. Please allow grace and time as you build relationships with students and families. You are all amazing!  Thank you to all staff who have pitched in over the past few weeks…We wouldn’t be here without you all. Take care and have a fabulous week ahead! Enjoy the small moments each day!

Wow! What a fast start, but we did it. I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to have a family like Westwood. We can do hard things, and we do them well.

Julie Barkley Meet This Friday (see schedule below): “Work Smarter, Not Harder”
Julie Barkley and Lori Eckert have created Global Unit Maps (GUMSs). The work is detailed and really lays great groundwork for our future work with literacy. Their work also ties directly to our Westwood Site Improvement Plan. Julie has been invited to share the why, the how, and the ease in which we can use this resource. This will also be a  great forum to ask Julie questions.

Aha! For Google Meet Reminders on iPads
Consider teaching students how to use the clock app in their iPads to set an alarm reminding them of their weekly google meet. Click here to view a tutorial. I am continuing to look for the best way for our students on Chromebooks to access alarm clocks. Look for details to come.

Weekly Information
Fire Drill
Our first fire drill will occur on Thursday, September 24th at 10:00.  We will also have another next week on Monday, September 28th at 10:00.  We are completing two fire drills within a short time period  to accommodate our intermediate students who are A/B days.  We need to accomplish 5 fire drills this school year.  I am hopeful to get these all accomplished this fall, in case we need to transition to distance learning at some point this year.   I have attached our emergency procedures for your reference.  If you are new to our building, please check with your team members for further direction.
