Dear friends and colleagues,

You may know that the Smithsonian Institution in Washington has within its orbit the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. There are two institutional memorials for US Presidents -- the Kennedy Center because of John F. Kennedy's patronage of the arts, and the Woodrow Wilson Center, as Wilson was the only PhD president.

The Wilson Center CEO, former Congresswoman Jane Harman, has asked me unexpectedly if I would direct their Global Europe program, working with former EU High Representative Catherine Ashton. You can see more at www.wilsoncenter.org. After some consideration I told them I would be glad to join their efforts. So I am now joining the Wilson Center as the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation Distinguished Fellow and Director of its Global Europe Program.

That said, I will retain my SAIS affiliation and continue to co-lead our program on The United States, Europe, and World Order, together with the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs.

My JHU email (dhamilton@jhu.edu) continues to work. My Wilson Center email is Dan.Hamilton@wilsoncenter.org. You may be interested in my first contribution under my WC banner, this time on the US and NATO:

American Support for NATO is Strong – But There is a Wrinkle

I wanted you to know so in case you heard of this you would not be confused. I look forward to staying in touch. I hope you are all staying safe and healthy.

All best,
Dan Hamilton
