Greetings on this sombre Flashback Friday's Something For The Weekend. 19 years ago today marks the apocalyptic real live day dream of the terrorist attack on New York's Twin Towers and it's subsequent demise and loss of multiple lives. I think we can all remember where we were when we either saw it as it unfolded or heard about it. I presented a show on Choice FM  3 days later and here is the link to listen to the replay.

In our soul surviving world we have much to celebrate as well as commiserate. On Thursday 10th September Roy Ayers celebrated his 80th 'Virgo Red' earthday, and long may he continue to share his musical vibes with us. On the same day we learnt that one of the co founding brothers of Kool & The Gang Ronald Khalis Bell sadly passed aged 68 on the 9th September. I interviewed Ronald in issue 14 of The Soul Survivors Magazine back in 2008. It was an inspiring interview and to honour his legacy we will be featuring an interview with both Ronald and Robert 'Kool' Bell in the  forthcoming issue 88 for October & November 2020. We also woke up to the news today that the icon british actress Dame Diana Rigg aged 82 who played the female Avenger Emma Peel, as well as co starring as Mrs Bond in 'On Her Majesty's Service' 1969 James Bond film production, has passed away. May both Ronald Khalis  and Dame Diana both Rest In Power. Football season starts tomorrow so all I can say is COYS

City to city, content to continent worldwide playing real underground music 24/7 with including DJ's Marc Mac, Dez Parkes, Barry King, and Fitzroy (Soul Survivors) go to www.nuwaveradio.net
Our celebratory 14th anniversary issue features interview segments from various artists who give an insight to how importantly they are connected to black music. In light of the current BLM phenomena and it being Jamaican Independence, it seemed appropriate to showcase this, so look out for these words of wisdom in the forthcoming issue.
