EIGHTH EDITION: Your favorite Claymobile programs are now virtual!

Summer 2020 looked a little different from years past, but we still had a blast bringing clay to our Philadelphia community! We did virtual workshops and residencies, held socially distant in-person programming, developed DIY crafting kits for older adult centers, and more! We want to sincerely thank our Claymobile partners who ventured into the unknown territory of virtual summer camps with us. We learned so much and are ready to take on the 2020 school year!

New this year, Claymobile is offering workshops & residencies with air dry clay kits, virtual crafting workshops and residencies, as well as coil bowl and name plate workshops with kits in addition to our typical programs. Our new program offerings are outlined on the Virtual Claymobile page of our website and are briefly described below.
  • Workshops/Residencies with Air Dry Clay Kits - Workshop or residency on Zoom with air dry clay kits. Kits use a combination of air dry clay and model magic and include basic sculpting tools, paint pots, and brushes for decorating.
  • Virtual Crafting Workshops/Residencies - Virtual crafting sessions held on Zoom utilizing materials participants likely have access to at home. These are typically held in a webinar format and can accommodate up to 100 participants.
  • Coil Bowl or Name Plate Workshops with Kits - In these workshops, a teaching artist will lead participants step-by-step through creating a coil bowl or name plate using traditional clay materials. Projects will be collected after the workshop for glazing and firing in our kilns.
If none of these option seem like the right fit, please contact us about creating customized programming. In-person programming is also available in some settings. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,
Megan Millman Lasiter

Calling all teachers, out-of-school time professionals, and child care providers!

Join us on Zoom for our virtual Teacher Open House on Friday, October 2 at 4:30 pm. Each participant can pick up a free art kit from The Clay Studio prior to the workshop. During the Zoom session we will highlight our virtual Claymobile options, create hand-made tile coasters inspired by the Motawi tiles in our shop, and answer any questions you have about our virtual workshop and residency options.

To register, please fill out this brief survey. You will receive an email with more information and the Zoom link to access the workshop. Kits can be picked up at The Clay Studio starting Friday, 9/25 between 11 am and 6 pm Monday-Saturday and 12 pm - 6 pm on Sundays.
This summer we partnered with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation for the Play Streets program. Children throughout Philadelphia made their very own colorful and creative coil bowls!
Claymobile continued with some in-person, socially distance programming this summer. This workshop took place at Las Parcelas Garden in partnership with Norris Square Neighborhood Project

Looking for a new DIY project? Claymobile is now offering crafting kits for adults. You can choose between 3 projects: planter, coaster set, or a photo frame. This project was inspired by our partnership with InnovAge Life centers.
Pictured here is Katherine Narrow posing with our then new Claymobile van. These vans have served us well over the years, but thanks to our generous funders, we will have new Claymobile vans debuting soon! Stay tuned for more info.
Coil bowls have always been a favorite Claymobile project. Check out our virtual workshop options that include a Coil Bowl Workshop & Kit!
