LEHS Weekly Informational Letter
September 10, 2020

Dear LEHS Community,

The start to the 2020 school year has been fantastic! We wish all students could be here with us five days a week, but we know that we will get to that point soon. As usual, the LEHS student body has been outstanding as we start the school year with masks, online expectations, different hallway patterns, lunch seating, Chromebooks, and sanitizing.

I recently wrote an email to our staff discussing the current time period and challenges in education and our world. Our current pandemic will change education forever, we must use this opportunity to make this a positive change. The education of a child is not based on one assignment, lesson, unit, quarter, or even a course. The true education of a child is the culmination of years of steady, purposeful guidance that has a lasting impact and lifelong lessons. LEHS is blessed with an outstanding staff, students, and community.

Classwork

Our teachers and students are still adjusting and making small changes to our in-person school days and our at-home days for students. The basic expectations have not changed for students, they are required to complete work during their at-home days. If they do not complete work, the student will not receive credit for their work and they will be marked absent for that class period. Please remind your child to complete all assignments during at-home days.

College/Career Readiness

We have a new CCR advisor at LEHS through Pickway WORKS. Marina Rarick is our permanent substitute this year and is also our CCR advisor. She will be meeting with Juniors and Seniors during English classes every month and will be establishing Job Shadow experiences for students. Please feel free to contact her at marina.rarick@loganelm.org to discuss opportunities for your child.

Online tickets

We have moved to online ticketing for our athletic events for the 20-21 school year. Tickets are available to families first, and tickets are opened up to “General Admission” on the day of the event. We are only able to sell tickets up to 15% of our maximum capacity. You can purchase tickets on our website at https://www.loganelm.org/EventTickets.aspx

Infinite Campus

You must register for an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account to update your child’s records for this school year. We will not have paper copies sent home for this annual process, you must do this online through the “Online Registration” tab. You can track your child’s grades, get assignment alerts, new grade alerts, view their fees, schedule, attendance, daily announcements, etc. You will need to contact Mr. Dan Hugus or myself to receive an access code. nate.smith@loganelm.org or dan.hugus@loganelm.org
