Modified services due to air quality.
Dear Library Customer,

We hope this message finds you safe and well. The Library has been updating procedures for offering Sidewalk Services on days when the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaches unhealthy levels. We previously sent a message on August 26 announcing our plan to close Sidewalk Services when the AQI reached 150. Because we’ve had to shut down for several days since, and are unsure of how long this fire season will continue, we have now modified our services that will allow you to pick up holds and return materials effective September 12.

You may return materials during the regular time and days (Tuesday through Saturday between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.) and/or pick up holds during your designated appointment time. Holds will be checked out and staged for you to pick up in front of your selected library, and returns can be made to designated bins placed outside the facility. Staff will be unavailable to assist or answer questions outside of the libraries. These changes to services are to ensure the health and safety of our staff and to align with the City’s policies on essential services during times of unhealthy air quality.

If you're unable or prefer not to to pick up your holds on these modified service days, you can pick them up any time that the Library's resumes normal Sidewalk Services, without an appointment.

We hope that this new enhancement will be helpful to you. We thank you for your understanding and appreciate your continued support of the Library!

Stay well,

Gayathri Kanth
Interim Library Director
