On This Day in history...
Roald Dahl was born 104 years ago today.

He had a fascinating life story, and began his journey as a writer when fellow author C.S. Forester prompted him to write about his war experiences. Within 10 days of the suggestion Dahl had his first publication appear in the Saturday Evening Post.

While you may be familiar with the titles of his famous children’s books, did you know he wrote the screenplay for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and the James Bond movie, You Only Live Twice?

Best known for his book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Dahl’s legacy continues to enthral young and old all these years later…

Make a Memory-Tray for MyMeander
What do you do when you want to add a memory of a fabulous occasion (like a wedding or celebration) or a holiday (that gap year in Europe) to MyMeander? In the Premium model you can add a pile of photographs to your gallery, but which one do you use for the main photograph, or which do you choose if you only want one picture?

Try a Memory-Tray - it’s as simple as grabbing a tray or board, and carefully placing select items on the board to summarise the Memory and capturing it all in one shot (of the camera).  This is my alternative to scrapbooking (which I’m not very good at, truth be told) because I am a bit of a souvenir/memento collector…

Here’s how it works:
  • think about the occasion or holiday
  • picture what elements of the day or week stand out for you
  • use your senses to help you with this – I do this on all my holidays:
    • the delicious cup of coffee or sweet pastry at a local café (use a real cuppa or a photo you took of the menu)
    • a textured sea-shell I picked up during an evening stroll on the beach
    • a postcard from the souvenir shop (better than any photograph I can take)
    • a flower I picked and pressed between the pages of a book
    • a photo of the book I was reading during the holiday
    • a ticket stub from the fairground we went to… the possibilities are as big as the tray you choose!
  • Arrange them all as artistically as your talents allow, and take a photograph
That’s your Memory-Tray! Use that as your main or only photograph ❤

Of course, there’s also the option of a photo collage if you’re not into collecting momento’s…
