Hello Niwot Families! Thank you for your partnership and for supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what the expectations are for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document. To this end, please click here to access an electronic version of the revised Code of Conduct for the 2020-2021 school year. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgment that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgment, please follow the steps described here. Again, thank you for your continued partnership and support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office directly at 303-652-2828.

Thanks for your support,

Nancy Pitz

All-School Movement Is Back! Virtually!

Click here anytime for a fun movement break!
I am super excited to announce that we have hired an Art teacher!  Please welcome Lauren Mocilac! Ms. Mocilac is originally from Wisconsin where she graduated from Northland College, majoring in K-12 Art Education. Although this is her first teaching position, she has a wide variety of art experience.  She is actually very familiar with SVVSD, as her two children attend Eagle Crest. Ms. Mocilac will begin with classes on Monday. Please note that each specials rotation over the next three weeks is only one week long (the rotations have been two weeks long). We realize this is a change but the reason is so all students can get art back into the rotation as quickly as possible.

Before School Workout with Ms. Balog!

Does your child need to get some energy out before starting their school day?  Ms. Balog is offering a before school 15 minute workout every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:40 am!  Kindergarten through 5th grade students are invited (family members can join too).  Please meet at her Webex room (your student has this QR code) starting on Tuesday, September 15, and get ready to move!

We are thrilled to announce that the curbside library is now open for book check out! Please follow the instructions on this tutorial to place books on hold. Once your books are ready, you will receive an email from the librarian. Book pick up will be every Friday from 10 am to 2 pm. Books will be checked out and placed alphabetically on tables in front of the school.

If you have library books that are still checked out from the spring, please return them at this time.

Book Quarantine Process:

When books are returned on Fridays, they will sit in the bins for 72 hours before being reshelved. I will be wearing a mask and gloves when I pull your books from the shelves.

If you have any questions, please contact Andrea Chen at chen_andrea@svvsd.org.

Meet One of Our Newest Staff Members --
Jessica Waggoner: 4th grade teacher

Hi, everyone! My name is Ms. Waggoner, and I am so happy to be a member of the Niwot family! I was born in Provo, Utah where I lived until I was in 4th grade. After that, I moved to New Jersey and lived there through high school. A love of the outdoors drew me back out West, so I attended CU, Boulder where I earned my B.A. in English Literature and completed the Elementary Education Teacher Licensure Program.  A life-long skier, I joined CU’s Freestyle Ski Team, and I enjoyed some very epic ski adventures as an undergraduate. After graduating, I decided to move abroad for a year to travel and teach English. After teaching English to Kindergarteners in Thailand for a semester, I traveled all over Southeast Asia. When I returned from my travels, I had the wonderful opportunity to begin my stateside teaching career at Alpine Elementary in Longmont. After two years at Alpine, this is my third year teaching 4th grade and I LOVE it. Outside of the classroom, I am a rock climber, skier, and mountain biker. I was so excited to lead my first 5.12 sport climbs outside this summer, and, to me, there is nothing quite like adventuring in the outdoors with my wonderful friends and family.

We urge all parents to review and update their information in Infinite Campus so that we have the most current information for your family on file.

Infinite Campus Update Instructions

Each year St. Vrain Valley School District completes a process to identify students in grades K-12 who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic or talent areas and may therefore qualify for Gifted and Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s) and require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas. Nominations need to be submitted by September 30th. Please note: not all students will automatically go into testing as historical data is closely looked at.  Also, if your child is already identified you do not need to nominate them.
