While still experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic St. Vincent's continues in the work we've been called to do. We worship, we act, we pray, we give (please consider online giving, see Parish Giving link below, as we need to sustain our parish community through this pandemic & beyond).

          Season of Creation

September 1 (World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation) - October 4, (Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology)

Just months after publishing his 2015 encyclical "Laudato Si', on Care for Our Common Home," Pope Francis formally added the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation to the Catholic calendar as an annual day of prayer. Last year he invited Catholics to celebrate the full season.

"Now is the time to rediscover our vocation as children of God, brothers and sisters, and stewards of creation. Now is the time to repent, to be converted and to return to our roots," he wrote in a letter. "We are beloved creatures of God, who in his goodness calls us to love life and live it in communion with the rest of creation. For this reason, I strongly encourage the faithful to pray in these days that, as the result of a timely ecumenical initiative, are being celebrated as a Season of Creation."

This year is the 5th Anniversary of Laudato Si' & the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day.

It's a time to reflect on our relationship with the environment — not just "distant" nature, but, crucially, the place where we live — and the ways in which our lifestyles and decisions as a society can endanger both the natural world and those inhabiting it, both humans and other creatures.
It's a time of prayer, contemplation and, increasingly, calls to action.

              WE ARE CALLED TO ACT

We pray to a just God, who loves us all, to infuse us with the Spirit to commit to honest dialogue & action to address systemic racism and work for racial justice.

              ST. VINCENT'S RACIAL HEALING STATEMENT
To foster a community in which people of all races and cultures are treated as equals and fully participate in the life of the church. We hope to achieve this by...Deepening Cross-Racial/Cross-Cultural relationships; Developing each person's gifts for Leadership & Ministry, (Including each group's Art & Culture) and by...Supporting actions for justice.

LISTENING SESSIONS on RACISM at ST. VINCENT'S:

As a parish family committed to building what MLK called the “beloved community,” we want to be present to each other in this time of reckoning around racism and how it affects our parish and our country.  Small-group Zoom (or by phone) listening sessions on racism with facilitators began in late July & are still being formed. If you would like to join please leave a message at the rectory(215-438-2925): name, phone number, & email. The first round of online meetings are separate small sessions with parishioners of African descent and for those of non-African descent. We plan to have blended sessions in the fall.

St. Vincent's Joy Wuenschel Fund to Rehabilitate the Interior

Joy was an active member of St. Vincent's for many years. She walked her faith as an activist and member of countless ministries. Joy's values of inclusion & social justice, in addition to her vibrance and warmth, made her a pillar of our community. Joy served on the interior committee & was dedicated to rehabilitating the church so that we can continue the community's valuable work.
The work in the church is beginning! Scaffolding continues & plaster work has begun (see picture below). Plaster repair, electrical, & lighting work are critical to the protection of the building and safety of our community. Painting & beautiful art will complete the rehabilitation the interior of our church.
We are soon to begin our campaign to raise money for the JW fund to cover the large costs of this work. PLEASE begin to prayerfully consider what your commitment/pledge will be to this endeavor!
