Dear Huns Social Members and Old Boys/Gals.
  Per the Inspectors of Elections, Huns Candidates successfully elected to the Board via the recent member vote are Brian Welborn and Harald Hofmann. Congratulations, gentlemen!

Gerry Acuna is rolling off the Board after serving a two year term and we thank him for his service to our Club!

The next Huns Board Meeting is set to be held in virtual space at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 16th. We will also have a Q&A session on the Huns Virtual AGM posted on September 2nd. Click on the links below to get caught up or to attend the upcoming meetings.
 
The big question for all of us is "when will we be playing rugby again?" The operative theory at present is in January, 2021. That said, we believe there will be a very tight economy next year for sponsorships and we have budgeted accordingly. This makes our work as Social Members even more important to the Club than normal.

We finished 2019/2020 with 70 Social Members, up from 15 just three years ago. Our near term goal is to get to 100, with the long term goal to get to 150. These are important membership milestones for the Huns to compete as a legitimate National D1 Club.

Two salient points about Social Memberships this year:

1. Existing Social Members - Please renew as soon as possible. We need Social Membership revenue to cover fixed overhead costs during September, October, and November before player dues revenue begins to roll in. Venmo to the Club is the best option as there are no fees. You can also do it through the Huns website @austinhunsrugby.com. Please - the more who can renew right now at $125 the better for the Huns!
2. A note to the Huns who have not joined up yet.... The main reason I hear for this is something like this: "We were self-sustaining when I was a Hun. These boys should take care of themselves." I would posit that while being self-sustaining may have been true back in the day, the world of D1 Rugby and fielding three full sides in the USA has changed significantly from the "good old days". The Huns now have professional coaches, a professional Director of Rugby and Associate Director, a professional Field Coordinator to direct maintenance of Nixon Lane, Insurance, professional medical technicians at all games, and many more expenses we old folks did not incur. I also hear this on occasion: "After all of the monkey business with the land and the split in 2017, I don't trust the Club like I once did." All I can answer to this is that under the leadership of Hansel, Wheezy, Doormatt, and many others we have rebuilt under Huns Values and moved forward openly and transparently. Trust us. Join us. Give us a shot. Having a robust Alumni Association, as MANY of the largest D1 clubs in the USA do, is vital to our continued growth and success.

Please - join - us..... and help us..... as we continue to build a grass roots support system within our Club.
