Dear Living Faith Uniting Church Family and Friends
"Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand." Isaiah 64:8 (NIV)
The cracked earthenware above bears the scars of ancient times. The enclosed chest provides protected preservation for the pottery from modern day pollutants. The concept of God being a Potter and us the clay in His hands is profound, and a reminder that Our Creator can heal us because He made us. He knows what makes us tick, He knows what breaks us and He knows the measure of fulfilment that we need to remain alive in Him.
It is helpful to imagine His nail pierced hands putting us together in our mother's womb and looking upon us with devoted love as His creations. Jesus sees the good in us and desires to enhance our gifts and talents so that more people can discover His creative power in their lives. The question for us is; are we willing to be moulded into the person He always intended us to be? Do we find ourselves pliable in His majestic hands and moving round in the direction of His grand design?
I have some good news to share - our manse has been rented out and we give God the glory once again for His provision in this way. The hard work of our Property Team continues to payoff as the various areas of our property are rented out.
I wanted to mention that my day off each week has changed from a Tuesday to a Friday. Also, I will not be available from 7 October until 11 October (inclusive).
Please note that our online prayer meetings that were previously held on a Friday evenings, will now run on the second and fourth Thursday evening of each month, starting 24 September. Please join us in this online ministry when you are able to - it is a wonderful time of revitalisation for ourselves and others.
I am also excited to let you know that for the time being, I will be running an online Minister's Bible Study each Wednesday starting 14 October at 9:30am - 10:30am. If you have an hour on a Wednesday morning to spare, I would love you to join in. A link to the meetings is below. We will be exploring the book of James with its various insights and wisdom for the remainder of this year. Feel free to grab a cuppa and join the conversation.
Our in-person services continue to flow well and we are so grateful to the Covid Wardens and all our hard working volunteers that make these services possible. We meet in a different style but it is the same loving family. Please come along this Sunday as we fulfil our primary goal in meeting together - to worship our omnipotent God!

A FINE GROUP OF YOUNG MEN Our Property Team hard at work this week
We held a Visioning Day in February this year and formed a Visioning Team as a result of that meeting. The Team have not met during Covid19, but are beginning to regather our thoughts on God's vision for Living Faith Uniting Church. If you are interested or feel called to join this team, please let Iris know. We will be working to discern God's direction for our future. We will start with a monthly one hour online meeting on Wednesday 23 September from 7pm - 8pm and see where our discussions, plans and ideas take us.
CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW ON WEDNESDAY 14 OCTOBER AT 9:30AM TO JOIN THE MINISTER'S BIBLE STUDY
Let Iris know if you would like to give one or more of her business cards to folk in need of pastoral care and we'll arrange to get business cards to you.
TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE
Come with me (Iris) as I show you some of my life in Cape Town, a city that never disappointed. It is a place of endless delight and colour that seems to appear around every corner! From Turkish restaurants in ancient stone-walled rooms, to oceans that stretch around Cape Horn, to the opportunity of enjoying fresh fish and chips on Hout Bay beach (which the seagulls swoop down to enjoy too!) - there is something for everyone. It is a city I fell in love with years ago and still hold dear to my heart. One of my favourite memories was the myriad of walks I would take through Dutch-styled cities like Simonstown, up Table Mountain, sauntering along the never-ending Noordhoek Beach and promenades that overlooked Camps Bay and Clifton Beaches. A hallmark of the city is its easy going lifestyle - in some ways it beats to the same drum as places like Melbourne.
OVER TO YOU - WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT A PLACE THAT YOU VISITED THAT WAS SPECIAL TO YOU. Send your photos and stories to irismarais@gmail.com
